I can't actually get the game to run as running the games execution file gives me a blank screen... if i try to ctrl alt delete and terminate it it will start playing the music... i Have just updated all my drivers and have no idea what is going on... some help would be appreciated....

What kind of hardware do you have? I have a strange problem with the demo too. It keeps throwing me back to Windows without any kind of error messages, and when i try to run it again, I just get a message saying the program has performed an illegal option and will be shut down. This is so un-fucking-believably irritating I can't even start to describe it. Oh, and when I try to start the missions or the tutorials (when it doesn't throw me to windows) I just get a message about some file missing. I've been able to play the first tutorial, and partially the second. And i've downloaded the demo 2 times and reinstalled it 3 times.

Hi,
Your prob seems similar to what i had, but i in fact got new sound card drivers and that helped... (I would have never thought the sound would stall everything...) Well so try it out and make sure the drivers you get for you sound card are the correct ones and really the newest ones...

Thanks i'll give it a try... i did that this morning but i'll check anyway...

nup... i got the latest drivers... o think it is osund as you suspect but it may jsut be another cause... i got an awe 64 the latest drivers i got were for windows 98 from the creative labs site... think they dated 1998... if there are more recent drivers taht may work plz tell me...

Hmmm...it seems to be spreading and spreading...Do you have any software emulated soundcard? is your soundchip integrated into the motherboard? My VIA motherboard came with the soundcard, integrated and it sucks big time...in directx 8 it says that my soundcard is an emulated device, even though it is built in the motherboard. I didn't think sound could lock up games, video problems do. Why don't you try disabling your sound hardware in the device manager and see if the demo works? I did and it worked...the demo just gave me a black screen before and then I came here and a lady (chitsa I think) said that she was having problems with her machine. Try it, if it doesn't work, DON'T SUE ME, it ain't my fault ;)

All people with VIA chipset

Via drivers aren't very friendly with your motherboard integrated sound card. Desiable it in your hardware profile.

this is not only for Tactics but also other things. You can get a decent Sound Blaster 64 for $20, it's wayyyyy much better than most of those integrated sound cards...
