Den map probs still, using patch 1.05

First time out of the vault
I still get error messages when I save/load in the Den, effectively killing those saves. I'm running windows 98/se on intel 1 gig/512 ram, nvidia 64ddr.

Had no problems installing and playing all the way through to the den, but now I can't save there.

Got the update, still no joy, is there a fix/workaround for this problem?

Oh yeah, I'm not running a "humongous" install, just a "large" one, does that make any difference?

Hmm, try uninstallign the mod and see if it still messes up.

It could just be a general error, not a mod error.
 
I should mention then that I played this game all the way through on this copy of the game with no errors like this, I just recently dusted it off when I found that people here had kept improving it since I last played (yay you guys!)

So I think it's safe to say that it's probably a mod error, probably compounded by something I did or didn't do during the update/install process, especially since I saw other postings on issues with 1.04 patch and the Den in particular, and the patch notes indicate that 1.05 fixes map errors.

That said, how do I uninstall just the patches...I'd have to reinstall the game, right? or is there another way?

Can anyone who has zero probs with save games in the Den, running under win 98/SE, list the order of install/patching they did?

for ex: 1)humongous install in which i did/did not manually copy some files 2) first updated with offical patches 3)finally unpacked patch 1.05 into x folder etc, etc, etc...

Propably the best solution would be to uninstall the game. Then install it with the humongous installation size, then apply the "unofficial" 1.05 patch and then the 1.05 update1 patch. If I remember right you don't have to update the game itself with the official patches.
