Fuck, for a moment there I thought Richoid was back...

Hahahahah.

But seriously, great photographs. I liked best the ones with the signs of past life.

Cool. What was this place and exactly when was this abandoned?

It looks as if it was deserted (relatively) recently.

Just googled this place an this is what I can find.

The clue to the island's mystery lies in coal mining. Reached by long descending tunnels, coal beds below the bottom of the ocean near Hashima disgorged huge quantities of high-grade coal for almost a century. But in 1974 the inhabitants abandoned the island to the wind and salt spray, leaving behind only unneeded belongings and a few stray cats that could not be captured.

An the full artical is located here.

Silent Hill

My insatiable apetite for more Silent Hill and rust just immensely grew. The Japanese are excellent marketeers.

I have a sudden urge to watch and/or play Silent Hill.

The rust, the dead, the joy!

A positive aspect about Silent Hill is that the plot is really convoluted. I used to think that it was about a guy who wandered into a peculiar town that had its fine share of unsavory denizens.

If you want to read on the weirder aspects of Silent Hill, I reccomend the following plot guide.

Everything comes from the game.

Silent Hill is nice and all, but what I'm seeing are shades of Fatal Frame:

This island had coal mining on it and was apparently used as a coast guard base by the Japanese. It looks like it was abandoned before a huricane and never resettled.

*hears the whooshing sound of the banstick hitting Goweigus*
Wow. Nice swing.
Now, back to the topic. It would be so cool to live there.

If they had to include San Francisco again in F3, they could get quite a few ideas on how to model it in 3d (isometric is a must though) from that island. Providing that you played on the same locations of course, IIRC on Van Buren, you wouldn't visit the same locations again. You would fight radmormons or something.

Would be a nice place to get some materials for a movie. "The city that disappeared" or maybe "Lost City" :)

The goverment send some scientist to check out a claim that one of their islands have been deserted but no one knows why or where all the people went 8) And then blabla...
