Hi all,
First, hello to the NMA community - long time leacher, first time poster
I've had countless hours of enjoyment playing, re-playing, re-re-playing (I think you see where I'm going with this) the Fallout series and if there's one thing that has made this pure enjoyment without pain the eleventyhundredth time around it's been the availability of savegame editing tools (<3 Falche), predominantly available on this site.
When FO3 was released I found myself with a pretty poorly specced PC but a loaner PS3 from a friend who has way too much spare cash, so I snagged the title on that platform. Now I'm heavily nostalgic for the days when I could muck about with the savegames - nostalgic to the point at which I'm going to bring my paltry coding skills to the party and try to create an editor for the PC which will allow someone to move the savegame across, do what they want to do and move it back.
Never having done this before, I expect my quest is going to involve a horrible amount of advancing, saving, moving to PC and comparing. I'm ready for this, but if anyone has any tips that might speed me on my way, I'd be grateful.
Specifically, I'm interested in finding out:
* Is this already happening? (Searching this forum didn't throw back any obvious tools, but apologies if so);
* Does the PS3 savegame format bear any resemblance to the PC format? (Would love to answer it myself but would need a massive PC upgrade first);
* Are there any tools/tutorials on doing this sort of thing that would ease the pain?; and
* Anyone want to help or maybe chip in to extend this to be useful for PC/XBOX360 as well?
Look forward to your responses.
