I think that you should be able to pick the race of your character...Like having a black guy for once or a mutant ghoul or death claw or something other then the plane white, black haired good vaultdweller

How the f**k...

How the fuck could you be able to play a deathclaw?! All intelligent deathclaws except Goris died in FO2, but I think you should be able to play as a mutant if they make it a sequel.

Well, you don't have to be intelligent...

If you could be a deathclaw, you could overclock your strength to new hieghts, and your intelligence would be 1 or 2. Plus, the possible endings for FO1 don't exactly fit in w/ the story for FO2. Like if you don't rescue Tandi from the Raiders, or if she dies while rescuing her, the narrator says, "Aradesh grieves over her slain daughter Tandi." Plus, if Shady Sands gets raided by mutants in the end, what happens to her? And there she is in FO2. So even if the intelligent deathclaws are dead (except Goris), there are strange possibilities that you can be a smart deathclaw.

RE: Well, you don't have to be intelligent...

If you play a deathclaw you would probably be shot at in every town you enter, and you can't use weapons or armor neither. About Tandi in FO2, since there's NO way of saving the intelligent deathclaws I don't think they're supposed to have a future in FO3. But maybe some smart ones where able to sneak out from Vault 13 when it got attacked. Who knows? I just say what I think about Fallout 3.

yes gouls could have more experense to start off with or maybe an extra perk or trait but less atributes mambe get a clook if you were a deathclaw like goris

And about ghouls..... since they are horribaly mutated, I guess the max. Ch they could have is 3. Who ever heard of a pretty ghoul? Just look at Harold in FO1 (He looks better in FO2, esp. w/ that tree in his head, also look at Set from FO1). Also, you could be a glowing ghoul and be attacked by other ghouls, and radiate anyone you hit. There should be overclocking of stats if you are a certain non-human or non-normie, like being a Deathclaw, as I said before w/ the St. I don't think you would be able to be an alien or centeur. Other wise, you'd be shot on sight.

yeh also a goul would be immune to radiation.
if you were a tribal you could have higher outdoormanship and melee'but worse small guns
and energy wepons. Vault dweller could have higher science but worse steal . they could have default clothes like that jump suit . what about a robot ?

da (dont shot me i am just the idear man)crinja

Not only races, but appearance

I think it would be cool if you could choose the size, appearance, etc. It would be cool if you cool design your character or select from a list. It would be cool if you could be a tall and skinny guy to a short and stubby female.

I also think it would be cool if you had so much money (like 250 caps) to select what weapon you want to start with. So if you don't have melee you could start with a small gun weaker than a pipe rifle or you could get brass knuckles, throwing knives, etc. as long as it is not powerful. My guys usually had tagged sm. guns, big guns and outdoorsman, so between arroyo and klammath I had to cross my fingers.

I don't like it:

On a technical viewpoint.

It takes a long time to make dialog/reactions/etc based upon one character and their charisma, speech, etc. Now think how they would have to do all that for each of the races.

It would be a bloody nightmare.

It's a good thought, but I don't see it being implemented because it would be too complicated.

i think the armor that you put on npcs should change their apperance like it does to you

That was more of a physical limitation rather than a lapse on BIS's part. Since Fallout is a sprite-based RPG, BIS would have to create hundreds more frames of animation to take into account armor.

Let's see, the only characters that would really change or could actually use armor would be: Vic, Sulik, Cassidy, Lenny, your Wife, and your Husband.

Each one of those need frames for leather, leather jacket, and metal armor. Combat armor and Power Armor look the same for all genders. With each character having three standing, walking, and running directions (about three frames per direction for each walking and running), about eight or so different gun types in different positions in three directions each with about five to seven frames of animation each. That's a lot of extra drawing.

RE: Not only races, but appearance

Hell yeah, now thats the kind of character generation they should make, and the bit about tribals being better at some things then vault dwellers is v.good as well.Different height/weight would be good as well as different
clothes types ie.tribal loincloth,New Reno bouncer suit etc.

Deathclaws

Actually, Kilroy, and all others in doubt...

I do recall releasing a intelligent (or semi-intelligent, capable of speech, in any case) deathclaw in Navarro, who escaped into the forest. Now don't quote me on this, but wasn't the deathclaw designated female?

Something I'd thought of to share.

RE: I don't like it:

I really don't see any problem with having a black player charecter option. It wouldn't be too difficult to implement.

thats right!

Ya thats right. If that death claw you freed meets another death claw and they have a baby death claw the baby death claw would be semi-intelligent. And after several genarations you have a lot of smart deathclaws.

Why

One word: Baldursgate ;-)

Now I'm on it anyway if baldurs gate could do it, why not fallout? The point of view was the same, even though BG was somewhat 3D (armors, clothing colors) but not dramatically (Zooming in/out, turning around the map). At the very least you should be able to choose skin and hair color, as well as changing clothing color (not the armors). As for races, why not have new one, Hobbits ;-)
