Disappointed with discovered tactic...

First time out of the vault
When an enemy sights you, "combat mode" is activated. This mode highlights and freezes all forms of external A.I, (excluding the A.I's that have been alerted to your position).

Being aware this "mode" can simply be activated by left-clicking the item button, I find myself "spamming" this ability so as to freeze enemies and approach them freely. Just before my action points run out, I repeatedly click on the item button again, so as to not allow the enemy to see me and commence their "turn". :|

It's a tendency of mine to find little nacks in games that I cannot help abusing... is what I'm doing wrong? Does anyone else do this?

Thank you.

It depends on how frustrating the game is making me usually. Sometimes I will use exploits, but I never go out of my way to do them. I feel dirty afterwards when I do.....

It's a known exploit in Fo1 and I would simply avoid doing it. It was corrected in Fo2, where enemies get a "heartbeat" after you leave combat.

I suppose it could be consdered an exploit if you have the targetting setting toggled, allowing you to identify enemies behind walls regardless of perspective. But the process of entering and exiting combat so as to gain a preemptive assault when moving towards the target is almost pointless unless you have very low fortitude or a high sequence, considering you'll either sustain their attack or have two turns in succession following their attack if one or the other is substantial.

edit: or a low sequence
