7th Doctor was great what are you talking about
I'm just glad they've gone with an older actor. Hopefully we won't have any more teenage/20something female companions falling in lovey wovey with The Doctor.
must be a UK thing then.
so used to the US where stuff like that doesnt happen enough to be normal or ignore-worthy.
Reveal for those who missed or want to rewatch, with the rather breathless, overly excited host, and Matt Smith's super-awkward video message.
Yeah, I was rooting for "not another white guy", but as white guys go, Capaldi is as fine a choice you can get. I was getting pretty tired of new fans believing every new generation had to be younger, and while I don't mind fangirls fawning over the pretty Doctor (they don't impact my viewing experience, do they?), you should have some variance in incarnations, and in many ways Tennant and Smith were too similar (though personality-wise they were nicely different enough).
So yeah, I continue to be excited! Really looking forward to the specials, and really looking forward to Capaldi's take. He's said his Doctor wouldn't be fond of Malcolm Tucker which is hardly a surprise, heh. Wonder where they'll take it. But yeah, after Smith's ADHD and Tennant's overly emotional take, it'd be nice if it goes more down-to-earth...
And Romana II appeared in a 4th Doctor story before being Romana II. It's kind of traditional!
While I would have greatly appreciated a female and/or non-White Doctor I am absolutely certain Moffat would have done them no justice. So really, maybe having another White guy (who is at least a pretty cool White guy) is for the best for now.
Of course I stopped watching the show a while ago. I could never get into Moffat's writing, and never felt attached to any of the characters he introduced.
According to some fans making the Doctor older again is illegal and against everything Dr. Who is about.
Fans are weird.
Though it has rekindled my interest in Who again, sorta gave up with the Cara nonsense.
Now if only Moffat would move on. I personally believe that Matt Smith's true potential as The Doctor was wasted with Moffat running the show. And I'm quite eager to see what Peter Capaldi can do in the role but I don't think Moffat is the one to bring out his best.
There's a Dalek that appeared in a 1st Doctor episode before being recast as a Dalek in a 2nd Doctor episode
I want this Doctor:

Why is he saying fuck so often.
You do know that the word fuck can be used for many sentences and has more than one meaning, right?
Does that mean his vocabulary is so advanced, he merged words
No, he's just the angriest scotsman.
i thought they said that this was going to be the doctor of the time war?
[spoiler:66208cc360]That's going to be John Hurt, during the Christmas special. Capaldi is very definitely the one coming after Smith, who's supposed to be taking his leave during that selfsame special.[/spoiler:66208cc360]
Not really a spoiler per se, as it's all been sung from the hilltops in official BBC press releases and they just had a half-hour blowout TV event exclusively regarding the latter bit, but some people go to great lengths to keep their fingers in their ears.
now here is the issue for me.
if there are only supposed to be 13 regenerations...
when in the doctor timeline is this time war doctor.
i thought he was either before eccleston or after this new doctor.
and then if we are having another doctor doesnt that push us to 14 doctors?
They most likely mystically scrap that strange rule.
No. John Hurt is the Time War doctor, which brings us to 12. And Peter Capaldi is then the thirteenth doctor, not the fourteenth.
Plus, they'll probably address that at some point, too.
I wouldn't be surprised that the whole River Song transfer thing that happened one or two seasons ago (I really don't recall it that well which is rare for a nerd like me) gave him a whole new set of regenerations.
[spoiler:10786724ed]Nah, Capaldi's been introduced as the 12th by BBC. Hurt is something else, like the Valeyard or the like.[/spoiler:10786724ed]
