Doing sidequest after finishing main quest. *spoilers*

First time out of the vault
Ok, so I'm playing GotY edition (PC), and I'm nearing the end of the main quest for the first time. If I had been aware that retrieving the GECK was basically the point of no return for the main quest, I would have never entered Vault 87, and I'm a bit annoyed that the game didn't drop me any hints.

There's a few sidequest that I either haven't finished, or haven't even started yet. They include Head of State, Agatha's Song, Oasis, and Superhuman Gambit. I also haven't gone to Point Lookout yet, or done Mothership Zeta or The Pitt.

So here's my question.... I know I can keep playing after finishing the main quest, but are there any advantages or disadvantages to doing those sidequest afterwards?

I'm debating whether to go ahead and finish the main quest now, or load a save prior to entering Vault 87 and doing some of those other quests. Thoughts? Suggestions?

What about the end cinematics? I was told that you see different things depending on if you finished Agatha's Song, and Head of State.

There's no need to hurry to the end after Vault 87 - the main quest will wait until you're ready. Do all the side quests you want, either before or after. No real benefits except getting more XP before the end.

I know I don't have to, but it kind of ruins the immersion to pretend that the Enclave isn't launching a massive attack after seeing all those Vertibirds taking off. There's definitely a sense of urgency there. :D

Well you can complete the sidequests after the main quest.Indeed the ending shows images of the sidequests you completed , the more you completed the more images will show. However , after the ''Project Impurity'' and the ending , the game will not end there.Broken Steel will kick in and you will have the chance all the time you need to complete all the sidequests and unmarked quests.

You see one generic pic of certain side quests with no commentary. Not worth the trouble to reload to an earlier save or to rush to complete them before the main quest.
