Dynamite (and some other things)

It Wandered In From the Wastes
I wanted to blow up the bank vault in the Hub but I don't know how its done. Or if it's even possible (I think I have tried it at least once everytime I played it). I have tested both with regular dynamite and those clay ones. Nothing happens.

And also there are some things I have never understood in Fallout. I want to know what the Key Ring is for. I have never got it to work anywhere. And also, after finishing the Gizmo quest with the tape recorder, I thought I could get some more tasks from Killian. Doesn't seem so, because there are no dialogue options other than the usual "tell me about the town" and "i wanna buy things"... And Morbid cut my eye out and I thought it would affect people but it's still just "hello nice day" stuff... Gah.

Uh, and another thing. The "tell me about"... No one seems to know ANYTHING I ask in it. I have not tested it yet but I am sure as hell the Overseer would say "I don't know about it" if I asked him about the Water chip or something very obvious. AAAAAAARGH!!!

I never actually got "deeply" into Fallout in the past, but when I tried out a more intelligent character this time to see if I could find out something interesting it seemed very limited to me. Almost every dialogue option and concequence I have seen is the same even if I have 120% speech skill, 10 in both Cha and Int, like when I had about half of it before... Hmmm.

And now... I want a complete list of USEABLE and UNUSABLE items in the game. Because if the crowbar can't open locked doors and containers... Well, yeah.

Wow. Er. . . . Were to begin?

Okay, the vault in the Hub . . . Never tried to blow it up. Chances are, you can't. (Just like you can't **blow open doors** . . . though, as Brother None pointed out at the RPG Codex, you can blow up the Rad Scorpion caves.)

The key ring? Probably good for nothing. Unfortunately Fallout is not an adventure game, where every item you can pocket may save your life (from pocket lint to trays).

After you kill Gizmo? There are no more quests from Killian. (Right?)
And I just kill Doc Morbid and his lil' troll so . . .

Now, Tell me about does work . . . I used it quite a bit in the Cathedral to try to get some extra details from the characters. It's driven by one single word though (not a question). It has to be specific too; Chances are you can ask Killian about Gizmo and he'll tell you about Gizmo . . . But I haven't tried it there. This is removed in Fallout 2 because it wasn't well conceived in Fallout to begin with, I believe.

The cutoffs for Charisma and Intelligence are about 7. At 7, you can get everything, I believe . . . And no, not much changes. Though, with a higher charisma, you get better reactions, better bargain prices, and you're more likely to persuade a character to do what you tell them to. Like Charisma and Intelligence, 90% speech is probably enough.
(And to be honest, I only ever played a high Charisma/Intelligence character, so I don't know the difference . . . Though, I think I'll do an idiot play through soon.)

"I want a complete list of USEABLE and UNUSABLE items in the game."

Oh deity. Get a .dat explorer and read through all the scripts then.

A listing of useless and useful items.

Yep the rad scorpion cave is an classic...

Ah, okay.

After I kill Gizmo, there are still the Skulz and Morbid so I maybe thought that it would be possible to talk to Killian about it. Nevermind

Yep I was actually pleasantly surprised that Fallout 2 didn't feature it because it made me feel stupid haha.

Aha, I don't know about the "cutoffs" and stuff. I played with a Int 1 character once. That however was a bit special. Most of the dialogue options was like "Me wanna kill bad guy" and stuff like that. However, sometimes it was still typical options but it's not so important.

Thanks
