I don't know if this is bad form to ask about some indie from a few years ago, but it was on steam for 4 bux so somebody got it for me for xmas ---- any char creation tips?

I've been readin' a few reviews on the net about how crazy it is, saw some video on giantbomb.com, and I see one of you guys played it in the what are you playing thread.

Been curious about this game. Is it as freeform as they say it is? This game claims it's multiple paths, but I just don't see that sort of complexity coming from a indie shooter.

I love cyberpunk, but one of the things I notice is that indie games that want to seem fairly blockbuster (i.e. first person) usually always have some kind of technical problems.

Nevertheless, I think I'll see how far the game goes. You've caught my attention, guys :)

I would check out giantbomb and you can watch a couple guys play and review it.

The thing is, from what I've read, not only is there no siingle path ---- apparently there's no path at all.
they say it's kind of confusing and you just run around and do wtf you want with very vague direction.

They have some kind of stealth option, and all kinds of stats you can boost with cybernetic implants, psychic powers, etc.

They say it's a crazy huge world ---- like, 10x what you'd expect.
I don't know if you have steam but my buddy says it was 4 bux, so you can check it out for next to nothing.
and yeah,, he got it cuz we're on lan and play co-op ---- I think it supports 32 players

I couldn't stand this game (awful AI, awful mechanics, awful UI, awful story, awful writing, awful translation,...) but do check out this more positive review:

A friend bought the 4-pack a few months back, and we were 4 people playing it. We play lots of co-op together, and really sometimes enjoy crap we shouldn't just because of the company, you know? Well, we abandoned this after one or two sessions.

It's very weird. It's an incredible resource hog, like out of this world even though it's Source engine right? There's basically some vague objects you need to get to, which frequently bugged out for us, and meanwhile a constant stream of generic targets that bite or shoot at you flow forth from the game's every orifice, but all the orifices are anal canals.

I never finished the game. It was too uneven. Endlessly respawning enemies etc do not make a game more interesting, only more boring.

I gave up halfway through. There's some good ideas inthere, but all in all, there's better stuff to waste time on.

A loveable yet ballistically badly translated Indie Deus Ex wannabe.
It's got heart and effort put into it at least. They did shoot themselves in the foot marketing it as having the most advanced a.i ever when the a.is idea of combat tactics is to gently jog into a wall.

well, to be fair to those guys, it wouldn't be the first game to market ai with crap ai.

My main gripe with E.Y.E was that I expected a finished product, this game from the very beginning gave me the impression of being little more than a beta version of an (overly) ambitious project. I will definitely give it another chance in the future when I'm in a more patient mood. And yeah you're absolutely right, bad AI is still way too common (approaching the year 2012 lol) and by no means something you can only find in "labours of love" like this.

I'd disagree with you there guys. I just decided to try this game and I'm sort of enjoying it.

One of my biggest concerns is that I'm unable to heal, and that the text size is really small I have to lean in to read it, as well as the fact that there's no save function. Really gets tiring and your eyes hurt eventually trying to make out font 5 letters, especially if they're on a same colour background.

I don't see anything wrong with the AI. They're just like anywhere else. Sort of like Half-Life 2 style, with some improvements, I'd say. At least they manage to strafe, they run in the right direction, actually take cover (!!!) and like to gang up if possible. I'm far from seeing this in AAA titles.

The levels are awesome. Whoever was the artist on board, he's one of the best. The whole idea is actually far from being Deus Ex, it's a huge setting with beautiful ideas. Samurai-style space monk-warriors with lots of vivid technology, firearms (strangely) and cool katanas? This is a great idea.

If they release a patch increasing text font, tell me how to heal, fix some grammar mistakes here and there, and add in a save function, I'll be happy. I agree that respawning enemies are quite a bore, but I can't really complain I guess. There's an option to cut down enemy reinforcements, so I'll go with that.
