Polish Supreme Court ruled that websites updated at least once a year, need to register as magazines or newspapers with the local courts. Webmasters who do not obey this law face fines and jailtime. The courts can refuse to register a website. Webmasters are treated as chief editors, responsible for the site, including the comments

Ten bucks says you're not going to find this kind of constrrictions anywhere else, maybe bar Belarussia. Do you guys have to huddle in darkness, updating your websites under the cover of the night?

Makes me pretty happy we keep NMA and its mail (you can get sued for using the word "post" or "postal" here, too) in the U.S. of A. Bite me, Supreme Court.

Wait, WHAT? Now this is a new level of stupidity.

Read what VaGla posts if you understand Polish.

What the fuck?

Damn, sometimes I try to be a patriot. I try to love my country.

And then the country shows how stupid and ugly it is.

Nevermind, its probably just the two fucking brothers who are leading your country!

Really, most of the Germans have sympathy for Poland and its people ... but I haven't met anyone who likes your (German bashing  ) government at the moment.

Yet another attempt by politicians to regulate "the wild internets". Whatever. I'd say that law has no chance of being thoroughly enforced.

Alas, Wr4i7h, the problem is that as with all laws (e.g. anti-piracy) they can't enforce it thouroughly, but someone will still fall through the cracks.

On the bright side, gaming companies will not be able to keep Polish fansites outta showings, ever. Of course, only the few that decide to go through with the epense of registering. ;)

EDIT: Hay Mike, is 40 PLN really all that there is to it, I don't need to register as a company? That'd rock :D

Register pl.nma-fallout.com :P

It'll be very unfortunate for anyone to get caught for something as trivial as updating his website, but these controversial laws usually go away with the regular left/right swings in elections. (Although I haven't really checked how Poland "works" in that respect, so I could be wrong...)
