I tried to install crysis on Windows Vista .it seems that most games like The Witcher,Bioshock and Crysis need MS Visual c++ installed (on Vista). But when i want to install the damn thing it gives me a 1935 error .crysis itself gets installed just fine but MS Visual C++ gives a certain 1935 error and wont continue the Installation.Crysis works fine on Windows Xp but it wont run on Vista and it gives a Certain Side by Side configuration Error which must be related to the MS C++ i think .

I would be glad if someone could help me out here !

Are you totally sure you need MS Visual C++? That's for making programs. Programming stuff. I think you need something else. Like new drivers or some flashy c++ dlls or something.

This is weird though since it should install just fine. Might be that a file is in use while the installer tries to overwrite it or something.

add: I just googled a little. You need the .Net Framework 1.1 which you get by installing Visual C++, but you can install it by itself saving you the dimes for MS Visual C++.

Here's some help from microsoft about it:

After you install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0, the Windows Installer service uses the Fusion.dll file to manage assemblies. When you try to install the .NET Framework 1.1, the installation process upgrades the Fusion.dll file on your computer to a later version of the DLL. However, if you do not stop the Windows Installer service and if you do not restart your computer before you try to install the .NET Framework 1.1, the Windows Installer service still tries to use the original version of the Fusion.dll file during the installation process. Because the original version of the DLL is not available on your computer, you notice the behavior that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839547

Or this one (which might be more on the spot):
This behavior occurs because Mscoree.dll is held in use for 10 minutes after you install (or remove) the assemblies. When you start another install, the installer tries to load its own version of Mscoree.dll to install the assemblies for the new program. Because another version of Mscoree.dll is already loaded, the failure occurs.

requires .NET 1.1? are you sure?

you'd expect a game like that to require .NET 2.0... or hell, they even released 3.0 recently.

anyway, 1.1 was always shitty on XP, i cant expect it to be better on Vista.

Whoopsie daisy time flies. Yeah could one of those. Pick the latest one

I get a message while installing .net 3.0 .
It says that i must use "Turn Windows features on or off" in the Control Panel to install or configure Microsoft.net Framework 3.0.
I searched the Control Panel but i couldn't find such a thing .
Can anyone one helo me with that ?

EDIT : hah...it say i have to install Service Pack 2 .wtf ?!!...i am trying to install this on Vista !

I know this is not what you're hoping for but my advice is....screw Vista. This shit doesn't work properly. Wait until they make some major updates for it or re-design it.

They put vista out there to stir the market for their next windows iteration, Vista's just ME with an XP base rather than the 2000 base for the original ME.

Damn....even the windows update doesn't work . it gives a certain 8000FFF error !
guess some third party software has fucked up something .i might end up reinstalling Vista .

Okay ...about the Vista update problem !
I found the solution somewhere in the internet .
Just in case someone had the same problem:

open cmd as an administrator and enter the following :

reg delete HKLM\Components /v AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving

it also solved my problem with the Crysis Installation .

Bitchen, FYI in order to add or remove windows features in Vista you need to go to the control panel, programs and features, and then on the left green pane click "Turn Windows features on or off"

There are a few features like telnet that are not enabled in vista that are nice to have enabled.

Curiously, I had a similar problem with Farcry 64. It was the only game that would not function on Vista for me... After a few months of random Windows updates, what ever issue it was having went bye bye... I'm sort of excited for the next vista service pack... then again, I remember what happened with XP SP1 and 2... *shivers*
