error loading game only in the Den

cycommo

First time out of the vault
I have fallout V.1.02, win xp, direct x 9.0 and did a windows install with the game (humongous). I have tried searching the forum but
found nothing that was applicable.

I have never had a problem with saving and loading a game until I reached the Den. If I save anywhere in the Den, and try to load that saved space, it gives an:

"Error loading game! unable to load game"

Looking in the SLOT2 folder, it shows DENBUS1 as a file, but won't load it. This occurs regardless of the save space used. I can save and reload anywhere else after being in the Den, just not in the Den itself. I don't want to travel to Klamath or find a random encounter every time I want to save after completing something in the Den, Please help!

Thank you.

Damn is that Den buggy - actually, there ARE some other similar threads.

Anyway, my best recommendation is that you read the Den section of a walkthrough - if you know your way around, there are few things you can botch in the Den. Afterwards, resume with normal play.

If this happens everytime you start a game and even after reinstall, I don't know what can be done...

This bug seems to have happened to a lot of people using Celestial's patches (1.03, 1.04, 1.05).

Is there a fix being worked on for this. Or is the walkthrough option the only one. I want to play without spoilers if possible.

Support for Celestial's patch has stopped since he is no longer around/working on it. I myself though have released a patch of my own under the unofficial path thread.

http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12738

My package has corrected almost 200 bugs found in Fallout 2 and I continue to fix new ones as I find them. Scroll to about page 13 of that thread to find my newest release. Since my work is not based off of Celestial's, there are no random Den crash bugs, map corruptions, etc.

It is up to you though what you want to do.

Here is a link to the list of fixes that are in my package. (this can also be found under the thread along with the links to my patch)
