I finally finally found what I needed in the megamod thread. It is just a huge thread and getting difficult to find individual issues.

Mods can delete this thread as useless if they like.

Shouldn't this be posted in the Megamod discussion?

I came up with possible reasons why it don't work...

1. You forgot to set read only on ALL .pro files? It's manatory to set them.
2. You rushed and encountered Scrapyard (but that place glitches loading future saves)? You should avoid that area.
3. You forget to remove or rename your patch000.dat thingy? You should've done that.
4. Vista user? I'm not, I'm just asking.
5. Did you overwrite the old data folder with the megamod one? You should've done that.
6. Did you overwrite the fallout.exe with the megamod one? You should've done that.
7. Missing a savegame folder? Can't save without it, I think.


That's all the reasons I could think of...

Never made it out of Temple due to errors

Removed it.

There isn't a savegame folder before your first save, is there? Doesn't the first save create the folder?

I will try yet another clean install of the game and then install the mod step by step, but I await further ideas.

Finding this thread answered my question about why the Megamod wouldn't save faster than searching thru the endless posts on other threads. Glad it was here.
