Evil Genius

Basically the question- if you were a villian in a Bond flick, how evil might you be.

A friend showed this to me- apparently it's new, and it looked like much fun. Build your own super secret base? Steal the eiffel tower and shrink it? Capture agents and torture or kill them in weird twisted ways?

Haven't you wanted to be Dr. Evil?

Delightfully graphic. Here's their page with demo.

It has many design flaws, though, wich can make it quite repetitive. The company that made that game closed for good a couple of months ago.

Bah! Call this gravedigging then.

The game is out. A friend who was playing it having much fun. But he said the controls on the mouse are a bit goofy.

I played the demo and it seems like one of those fun games with a cool premise that become boring after a few levels and you never actually finish them, and one day uninstall them when Fallout 3 comes along and it's on three DVDs and you need the space...

what?

Its a fun game but gets pretty repetetive after awhile. Its also got a few bugs such as the traps not working like they should and glitches occurring. The idea of the game is great it just wasn't put together as good as it could of but we've seen lots of those games. :P

However if you like simulation games its a must have!

It just has a lot of flaws that could have been overcome. For instance, the working priority of your minions should be selectable versus the current system of objects being first and everything else second. Or at least stagger it a bit between tasks.

Perhaps it was just Dungeon Keeper spoiling me, but an included scenario editor would have been excellent for a game of this type. Otherwise, replay is extremely limited and almost static.

The setting and style, especially in the era of 60's spy flicks, was excellently done.

True, it has a great plot and that setup is awesome they just should have waited a bit longer before releasing it to filter out most of the bugs. I guess they could always release a patch too. But if its true than I'm sure the company won't be doing that if they went belly up ^_^.

I really wished this game had a "sandbox" mode available. The linearity of the game doesn't lend itself to serious replay value.

I'm a fan of games with a sandbox mode too, pure campaign games like you said don't have replay value at all after you beat it.
