I've been reading some postes and....
Does WinZip do somehting to DAT files?

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON May-15-00 AT 05:12AM (GMT)[p]When you extract the Zlib compressed files from a DAT there is no program that can decompress the file in the natural way (well, mine's yes, but it's still in development ;).

Zlib data stream supports in some way the GZ compression, so, if you attach any correct GZ header(*) to any DAT-compressed file you're gonna be able to extract it using WinZip.
But you must remove the Zlib header (0x78, 0xDA) before you do this.

(*): The header that everyone uses is: 1F 8B 08 9F E8 B7 36 02 03 [filename] 00.

Hope this information is useful.

If you want more information about DATs I have made a complete DAT spec document, you can find it in http://www.pipboy2000le.f2s.com/ home of The Mod Squad.
