Experienced FOT player asks: What mod(s) to start with?

Hieronymos

First time out of the vault
My First time to your glorious site. Have played Fallout2 mucho, and the beloved FOT much more. Have been playing Jagged Alliance2 v1.13, and JA2 Renegade Republic on Insane difficulty for awhile now, but it's getting a little old..and thought to see what FOT modders have produced in the "realistic challenge" department.

So what mod would experienced FOT modders reccommend as a starting point?

Thanks in advance.

Don't bother. Most mods don't even work.

Fallout modding in general is map modification or map creation. I happen to be making a map and it certainly will WORK.

I am not sure if the administrators are going to accept the test map i uploaded. but be sure to check the file section for when it is.

So?

Why bother making a map? Interplay must have turned off the servers for online play on Tactics. I'm not the only one to say this, but whenever I click multiplayer on the menu, it brings up the screen where all of the games are supposed to be. But guess what? No games. Why make maps for online if nobody will be able to play them with other people? :(

The multi-player functionality that comes with the game is LAN based. Meaning you can only play with people who exists on your local area network. The server list will never be populated with a game unless someone on your network hosts a game.

There are two alternatives.
1. Use Game Spy arcade
2. Use Hamachi.

Also you must keep in mind that
a. You have to have the same map the host has
b. You have to have the same game version the host has

They do if installed properly.

As said above, there are ways to play it on multiplayer if you use a little common sense, and everyone's friend, google.
