[F1] Can't get into Military Base

I killed the guards, and apparently one of them was meant to drop an item that would allow me to get through the door - but I never found such an item. Now the bodies have decomposed and I still can't see this item on the floor (though perhaps this is partly because I have a high-resolution patch installed - should I be posting in the Modding forum because of that?).

I'm aware there is another item that can get me in, but I used it, selected the wrong option, and now it won't work. I don't seem to be able to lockpick the door either. Any suggestions?

The object is probably obscured by blood, which takes much longer to disappear than the bodies (although it will eventually). You could perhaps increase your Lockpick skill and/or get an item to help with that.

I made a fix for the blood pool - just moved the frame offset numbers so items fall in front instead of behind. Just copy the "data" folder into the Fallout1 folder and override, it can be used with F2 as well - Fallout Blood Fix

You're welcome...notice the blood now looks wet.
