First time out of the vault
Hello to this beatiful nice forum here
i have the following problem with Fallout 1, i think i got a damn ugly dead end savegame.
I just came out of the Glow, did the quest stuff, but i cant leave the place without dying!!!
My Situation and attempts:
I'm standing at the crater, at the entrance to the glow.
My radiation counter says i have like 1600 radiation or so.
I pop a Rad-X pill, take a look at my Rad Resistance, which is at 100% (yes hundred) now, which means immune to me, correct me if i'm wrong on this.
Then, i eat ALL my Radaway (12), rest in intervals of half an hour, until i got the further Rad reduction of 50 and then 75.
I take another look at my radiation counter, which says ZERO radiation ZEEROOO

Then, pissed as i became of this "bug" i call it right now, i take another look at my Character Screen, just to make sure i have STILL 100% HUNDRED PERCENT Rad Resistance.
To sum it up, i got zero radiation and 100% rad resistance.
Then i go to the world map, but i die EVERY time when i try to leave the Glow Square on the world map. I only can move a few metres until i die. Why the hell. (and i am not poisoned, lol).
Sorry for being mad, but im really close to the end, put real effort in this savegame and i would appreciate any help.

If u want, you can try your luck with my savegame: http://rapidshare.com/files/168174125/falloutsave.rar
just unzip the SLOT04 folder in your savegame folder, rename if you already have a savegame in your 4th slot.

edit: what the hell is that pl*z bitchslap me thang. Not the funniest forum joke i encountered in my life at all, ruined my topic.

Are you sure? I doubt that 12 Radaway are enough to deal with a radcount of 1600.

Advice for the future: Use more than one savegame slot.

It definitely said zero radiation, and to do the math, one cures 150, 12 times = 1800

And ok to be honest i have an earlier savegame, so i only lost a few hours, but i dont have that much time to play and im not very motivated to do this again. In the meantime i found an ancient thread about that issue http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=315522&sid=acf99e8c8a9f2da4fec4b3a0b0a17730

Seems like theres no hope for that save. But ive seen every place in the game, i think i take that old save and directly try to kill the military base and then go over to Fallout 2.
And fuck that crappy glow shit, sorry. Hope theres none in F2 lol.

From what I remember, while on the world map, you can get rad poisoning from that one square that is the Glow. Try making it off that square, than taking the Rad-Away. The Rad-X should be taken BEFORE exposure to radiation.

When there's a radiation attack "scheduled", you can't avoid it. You can avoid dying by making sure no stat drops to 0 when it hits, though. Try drugs, or a character editor if necessary.

Try drugs,

I cannot say anything but 2 things on that:

1. I love you for rescuing my savegame which i considered lost.
2. Dont one ever tell me again drugs arent a solution for serious problems.

The Glow... and Time

Same here. After so many years i decided to to pick up this marvelous RPF classic again and started a new adventure. I too entered the Glow and couldn't leave without dying and thus ended up with a dead end savegame. Very inconvenient. I decided not to give up. I tried everything. I hacked the savegame, i gave my character 100% Rad resistance, popped 100 RadAways and RadX -- to no effect. Even though i wasn't radiated, had 100% rad resistance and some perks, i couldn't leave the Glow square at all. Then i realized, it's not the actual rad level, it is the time. I realized that after a certain amount of time passed (a flag had been set whilst entering the glow) i would die. Just like that. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time left for me to leave the Glow square. Here's a trick that wortked for me: i "froze" the time (i searched adress spaces, ie variables o0f Fallout.exe during runtime) and eventually found those for "time". I froze those variables and voila -- i could finally leave the glow. Phew.

Haha, looks like many people have this prolem ^_____^

On my first playthrough, I simply loaded the game I saved right before Glow. Well, lost an hour or so.

Lesson: save often.
