Here is an idea of what the plot could be like in the game:
In childhood your father ( Ex Chosen One) and his wife were the president and first lady of your tribe, town, whatever. The new enemy ( insert name here) was planning for world domination or extinction of the races or somethin so they attacked and brutally murdered and burned the "town" down. Your father had an escort take you and your mother to safety while he fought back and tragically died in the process being old and all.

Your mother found somewhere to raise you, maybe in a small group of people or another tribe, or something similar to that. As she got older, she died of age with you by her side. Before your mother died, she told you the tory of what happened to your father and his town. This enraged you. Yuo wanted vengeance on this "enemy." So once your mother dies you set out to make new allies and find this enemy.

Along the way you can do quests and stuff for the towns vaults, etc. Slowly along the way you learn who this enemy was and were to find them.
and so on and so on.

Hey could I be a novelist or what?

It just sounds so cliché..

It just sounds so cliché..

The main character wants vengence on his father while simultaneously the man who killed his father wants to take over the world. It's been done so many times over...

And of course his father gives him advice in his dreams right? And at the very end the hero has compassion for the ultimate bad guy, but the bad guy backstabs him, trips, and falls to his death leaving the hero virtuous?

Sounds like Disney..

Why do bad guys always want to...

...rule the world, destroy it, or get rich?

RE: Why do bad guys always want to...

Well what else is there to do. How bout allthree. Get rich, rule the world, tehn blow it up.

RE: Why do bad guys always want to...

You know, it seems like evreything today seems cliche, because almost every different type of storyline has already been done. Innovation has become scarcer and scarcer by the year. I still try to mantain a sense of hope, though

RE: Why do bad guys always want to...

How bout the guy bent on taking over the world is actually a clone of the vault dweller you grandfather? Or it's your evil twin seperated at birth?

RE: Why do bad guys always want to...

"Oh, that is so cliché!" About what evil guys always want: Why can't they settle for just richest man in the world (Yeah that'll show Bill Gates) or rule/destroy a part of the world? Or when they have caught the hero (James Bond, Indiana Jones, Luke Skywalker, Austin Powers, Guybrush Threepwood, whoever) Why can't they just kill them?! I'm gonna make a movie where the bad guy wins! Power to the dark side of the force!

Mommy No!!

lets try something a little more original or at least interesting. Find the bad guy is just no fun.

Alterative

I think it may be interesting to have all of the above happen apart from the mother and child getting away. Then as a child you are left in the debris struggling for your life (and not knowing of what has happened) when some wandering mutants come across you, heal you and raise you. Then throughout the game you must try to discover facts about your past and eventually seek vengance upon the 'enemy'.
Remember before you reply, not all mutants are evil, scheming bastards, take marcus of broken hills for instance, he was a good friend, useful too. Apart from those times that he attacked from behind me sawing me in half with his min-gun. Those were the days :)

Alright, the hero finds themself in the middle of a conflict between two or three warring factions, of course, starting out, this dispute would not appear to be having much effect, but as the game progresses, the impact becomes more and more evident. Either way, many of the hero's actions would serve to make changes in the war's progression, however, the hero must make sure they do not allow one side to win or gain too much territory because xxxxxxxxxx. As we've explored most aspects of post apocalyptic living, this might serve to add a fresh perspective as well as a chance to add on to the rich Fallout atmosphere.

I think you stole that idea from me! Along time ago I posted a suggestion that the Hero's home was in the middle of two nations in war and
he/she must make peace between them. Think of something own!

RE: Alterative

Isn't that kinda like the plot in BG? How bout the bad guy doesn't want to rule the world - he just wants to achieve immortality and he needs lots of test subjects to try out his formula. Hence the need to capture a lot of people, the heores mum, dad, etc could be amongst those captured, and he's trying to find them, blah, blah, blah.

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Jul-03-00 AT 09:11AM (GMT)[p]Isn't that kinda like the storyline from the new Mel Gibson movie the patriot?
