Falche Has No God

Vault Dweller
Argh... Well, I've pretty much given up and decided to ask for help from the good people of NMA once more after my long absence. I decided to install Fallout earlier today and had to use the instructions here, fine and all, and then installed the patch here manually... Fine too. Seems to run perfect.

I go to fire up Falche, the same one I've had for Fallout since forever which I know has worked on this system before with an install of Fallout (though that time the auto-install worked...). It refuses to see the SAVE.DAT files no matter what directory I select (Fallout/data/savegame/slotXX). Now, my only thought after going through the five pages of NMA results for "falche" is that the save file has somehow been changed so that Falche won't read it. As to why, I have no damn clue. I'm using the proper v1.20 Fallout 1 editor.

Any help at all would be most greatly appreciated. If this is the wrong section, please hang me after. All I want is an insanely lucky character with shit for stats othewise. - Colt

Have you tried a re-install?

Anyway, moving to General Modding, since Falche isn't part of the original game.

We've allowed Falche and Inventory Editor threads in G/T before, though, on the grounds that they only modify data of an ongoing game, not any game files that process the data.

As for the problem, Falche should get the Fallout path from registry and then let you select a game from its menu, not ask you to find a path for it. If you had it on your HD since last time you had Fallout installed, that may be the problem, and you have to edit the Fallout and/or Falche registry to reflect the new situation.

Yes, if there is a problem with the game, not if there is a problem with the editor or Falche itself. ;)

Or re-install Falche.

How would you "reinstall" Falche? All of the versions of it I've seen are simply standalone executables that you unzip. :? I've worked around the problem by dumping the DOS version of it into the Fallout directory and editing that way. Why it should recognize the files and not the other version I'm unsure. Thanks for the help guys. - Colt

In falche, the path should only be directed to the folder your Fallout exe is in; the program apparently assumed the data/savegame part. For me, at least, I set the path to C:\Program Files\Interplay\Fallout.
