Fallout 1/2 ambient music found in game!

First time out of the vault
Just got to Primm and heard the LA Boneyard/Golgotha music from FO 1 & 2 (respectively) in the background! Didn't see any posts on the topic yet, so I figured I'd share. Maybe I'm alone on this one, but I think its awesome they chose to put in little things like that from the classic games. Hopefully there's some more classic ambient music to look forward to! :D

In case anyone needs a refresher:

P.S. First time poster, been lurking here for five or so years, this is the first motivation I've had to join and post though

Yup - I heard it throughout the Steve Bison Hotel. Really helped to set the mood! I didn't hate Fallout 3's music, but FO1/FO2 music boosts this game's cred by a thousand points in my book.

Picking up my copy today, spent a couple hours last night on youtube looking up early footage just for a fix =) Hearing Arroyo music when the dude was shooting geckos for Sunny Smiles...fantastic :)

It's little touches like that that bring about that nice, warm fuzzy feeling. I love continuity in sequels, essential!

Just heard the original "Brotherhood of Steel" theme by Mark Morgan play in Viktor's shack:

Pretty neat :D

Yeah, I noticed it as well. I think they did a really great job integrating the F1/F2 (don't think I've heard anything from Tactics yet) music into the game. It's always in areas that make sense and that little bit of extra emotional impact makes you feel like you in the world.

I've been enjoying New Vegas a lot so far, and it wasn't until I reached Primm that I noticed some of the original Fallout music...

WOW.

Having that playing in the background as I lurked in a dark dilapidated building was an INCREDIBLE feeling. It's amazing what a soundtrack (or a bite of nostalgia that actually feels legitimate) can do for your feelings and enjoyment of a game.

I now actually feel like I'm playing a Fallout game. It felt good before I heard the music, even though the knowledge and visual reminder that its built off of a Bethesda abomination hurts it a bit (honestly the most immersion/Fallouty-breaking element are the character models, animations and interactions).

But it feels really good after hearing those tracks and feeling like I was trying to SURVIVE.

This has proven so far to be a most definitely flawed, but acceptable follow-up/spin-off of Fallout. It makes me wish that it wasn't carried out in a desert setting, because I get the feeling that these guys could have made the vault experience extraordinary.

I actually heard "Dream Town" in Victor's Shack. That made me fall out of my seat. That was my favorite of all of Mark Morgan's work. I knew some old Fallout music was in NV but I never expected that one track to make it.

In my NV install directory (the steam version) I found mp3s of all the Fallout 1 and 2 music. On my machine they are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\Music\Fallout1and2

Now I can listen to those classic tracks on my MP3 player!

Ha! spotted one! Van Graf shop in Freeside (called Silver sth), plays FO1 cathedral music. I was like, Hell Yeah!

Also, Isaac's house near East Gate. Not sure which tune that is though.

This music was good for athmosphere in the previous Fallouts, haven't heard this in NV yet.

thank god i read this thread, i usually turn music OFF, did that for f3 till i found a classic f1/2 music mod.

So anyone know if Sir Morgan got a check for the music being in the latest game? Or does beth own the music now and he would reciev no royalty?

You probably haven't heard then but they just a short time ago released the music of the old fallouts remastered in 320kbps mp3 for free online. There was talks about a FLAC version too but haven't checked for it yet.

I only really notice the music when it's old Fallout stuff. Though I do like some of the NV music, there's this sad haunting violing piece that sounds straight out of Bioshock which started playing when I was talking to Boone about his past, pretty fitting. :P

Isn't it still available for download off NMA?

If you've played Morrowind, then you'll notice they included bits of music from that too. Most of it seemed fairly appropriate when it was used.
