Fallout 1/2 on Surface Pro 3 - Pen Input

FatOfTheLand

First time out of the vault
I just bought the Surface Pro 3 (windows tablet) and the pen/touch input doesn t work that well in Fallout 1 and 2 as it does in Fallout Tactics. The cursor never aligns with the pen...it keeps up with the movement of the pen but it always is in another place of the screen.

Has any windows tablet users found any solution to this.

Thank you

I assume you're using the Steam version of the game, which comes with sfall? What graphics settings do you have in sfall?

I have a Windows tablet (Win 7) and I suffer the same problem. It doesn't recognize touch as mouse input effectively. I have the Fallout 1 HiRes patch installed. I also own the original game disk and installed it onto an SD card. Also running v1.1.

The real frustrating thing is I bought the tablet a few years ago mainly to play classics like Fallout, BG, Freedom Force, etc. all with a simple touch interface that emulates the mouse. It appears that the games' coding somehow inhibits the touch-to-mouse conversion.

Any ideas?

Use windowed screen...it did the thing for me :)

Thanks. I'll try that. Do I need to install sfall to run it windowed? I prefer to run full screen but if this is the only way it will work...

Edit: Update - sfall didn't recognize Fallout 1 (said error looking for Fallout 2), so I'm currently trying D3D Windower. And DXWnd

Edit: Update 2 - Can't get D3D Windower or DXWnd to work. Fallout 1 runs fine but doesn't do it windowed.
