Fallout 1 and 2 for Mac

First time out of the vault
Hi,

I have a Mac Powerbook G4 with OSX Version 10.4.11. The Processor is a 1.67 GHz PowerPC G4.

I really want to play the original games, but as stated, don't have a PC. I'm not big on using all the Windows emulators, so I want to know this:

If I buy the original Fallouts for Mac on disc, will they run on my machine? Or is there a minimal amount of work I'd have to do to get them going?

Any info would be greatly appreciated, as I'm pretty new to this and would like some help. Thanks in advance to all of you for your time; I've had a blast reading through the different discussions on this forum.

Anything that can run Jag 10.2 can do it. Forced installed 10.2 on a Beige G3 Tower and played some FO1.

10.1 may even qualify, don't recall. But why punish ourselves, got G4's that run 10.4 and 10.5.

Doing permission repairs stoically and frequently helps smooth out the 10.5 issues with G4's.

My first PB, Titanium 1ghz G4, 64 meg video ram, 1 then 2 gig ram, (2003 model?),

FO1 and FO2 Mac versions ran fine.

Lazy way to expand saves is log into another desktop with a seed save.

No patch known or necessary for FO1 (updated at porting), but may have to force quit to leave the app with 10.4, stopped being a problem when up'ed to 10.5.

Patch for FO2, and the Mac porting company has changed tacts, or been sold. May still be on their site.
Still may be able to e-mail a question and get an answer.

Google will help find the standard character/item utilities for Mac.
Might get to the Glow with out pack ratting a common adventure impedimenta.
Might play Jinxed and the one of a kind hand gun may have self destructed,
or Ian dropped it at the last random encounter, and switched to fists, and did not pick it up.

Intel Macs are o.k., and then Boot Camp allows running MS OS-s, XP/Vista, Win plat's where most of the mods dwell.
Used the GOG FO's to ease install. Tried a GOG version of FO on Parallels emulator but screen resolution a pain.

Should be no problem with 1.67 G4 and Mac FO ports.

They work fine on my equivalent computers (10.4.11/G4). Just make sure you get the OS X version of FO1, not the original MacPlay release. There was no classic version of FO2.

MacPlay "Not At Home"

MacPlay "Not At Home"

Box art matches copy I got.

Wiki sez http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacPlay

Use to find link to old game support pages, now simple Google routes to too many trash pages that are web ad cesspools. FO2 reference just a lure.

When MacPlay was MacPlay they re-patched their FO2 patch in 2002.

Simple Googles don't help much. Version-tracker download link broken.

Loaded FO2 on 2 ghz upgraded AGP G4 , don't recall using patch.

May not need it with 10.4.
