Fallout 1 - Bug with Hightower's necklace

First time out of the vault
Hi everyone,

I have version 1.1 of the game. I am in the HUB and have just taken the necklace out of the strongbox and killed the merchant and his wife. When I go back to the bar and try to talk to Kane, I cannot get to the dialog window and he attacks me after I click on him a couple of times.

What's going on?

This will happen if you kill them before getting the quest.
