Fallout 1 Child Problem - Please help.

Hello, I haven't been able to find anything about this so far in my search and was hoping you fine folks could help me.

I downloaded Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics from Steam. I have been having a great time with Fallout until today when a problem arose.

(Quest Spoilers)

I have accepted the quest to kill Jain in hubtown, and yet, I go to kill her and something happens. Tycho and Dogmeat go after someone I can't see. I read on a faq somewhere about a flower child being there, and that must be who Tycho and Dogmeat are trying to kill.

Problem is I can't see her or target her. This being from Steam, I have no idea what to do about it, or what the problem is. Will downloading the child patch work?

Also, this is my first post on these forums, sorry if I seem like a noob, I am trying to do my best not to be.

Sounds like it would, yes.
I'm not sure if there are any problems installing or any conflicts with the Steam version though.
Try it and see what happens. You can always re-install.
Make sure to backup your savegames, just in case.

EDIT: I tried it and works like a charm, thank you.

Wanted to kill several kids in Klamath when I played Fallout 2 though...
