Fallout 1 holotape question....

This might be a ridiculous question but I just started playing Fallout 1 and I got the holotape from the dying mutant after killing the Deathclaw.

But when I put it in my item slot the only option I have is to use it on something. I've tried using it on myself but it doesnt work. I can't figure out how to load it into my Pip-Boy. I got the holotape from the librarian on the Vault locations and when I equip it and then click on it it loads automatically. Is there something I'm missing?

The description for the mutant holotape just says its a disc with strange markings on if that matters any.

Right click and use the hand icon, ie just use..

Don't equip it - go to your inventory screen, right click on it and select use. In the lower left text box you should get a message saying "tape downloaded" or maybe the message itself. I can't remember how it gives you the message for that tape exactly, but check your pipboy screen and it should have a listing for it.
