Fallout 1 non-teammate NPC blocking important door

First time out of the vault
Hello all,

Been enjoying Fallout 1 on Windows XP, patched to 1.1 without any problems until recently. An NPC who is not part of my team insists on standing at the entrance to the Blades gang leader.

***SPOILER***

I have eliminated the deathclaws and spoken with the gun runners. I retrace my steps to inform the Blades leader but this "member of the Blades gang" simply does not move no matter what I do. I presume attacking him will turn the entire gang, leader and all, on me.

***SPOILER***

Please help in whatever way you can. Since I save quite often and in different slots (something which every RPG guide will tell you to do... sigh), I don't think I have a savegame far back enough since before meeting the blades.

Thanks,
Uzer

I usually walk around a bit - leave the map and return and see if he/she moves.

'Tis an annoying bit of FO1

EDIT: does seem you did do some other things and come back.... i don't know if a map editor (does one exist for FO1?) can move the character somewhere....

perhaps resetting the map for that one particular location can help

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I have a previous savegame in which I definitely spoke to the leader and left with an unblocked doorway. Loading that now results in the same NPC blocking the doorway. Why does he not move at all?

I would appreciate it if you could tell me how to reset a map. If anyone can shed light on a map editor it would also be appreciated.

Thanks
Uzer

Are you a Windows user?

Please, load your game and make sure you're outside the Blades area (That's where the problem NPC is, right?)

Alt+Tab into Windows, open Windows Explorer, enter your Fallout directory, find your \DATA\MAPS\ directory. There, find the file LABLADES.SAV and delete or rename it.

Then Alt+Tab back into Fallout, re-enter the location. It should be restored to its original state.

Please note that it can result with unexpected behaviour of quests or dialogues.
