Fallout 1 Problem

Vigil

First time out of the vault
Hey guys,

I recently just started playing Fallout 1 and I've run into a bit of a problem. I scouted the mutant base to the North and reported back to Maxson about it, but decided I wanted to do a few things before we assaulted the facility. I told him I didn't know what I wanted to do right away, figuring it would let me return to him and tell him that I want to attack it.

This does not seem to be the case. Returning to Maxson doesn't give me any options.

All of my saves are also after this. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? I'd prefer to assault the base with the brotherhood. I'm guessing they help you a bit with the main quests. Otherwise, is there anything else I can do?

Thanks for the help.

I'm also curious if I can just go myself and then go back and tell the Brotherhood I destroyed it/am having difficulty destroying it or something.

You can ignore that. You would only get 3 paladins with you who don't follow you into the military base anyway. So it is quite useless and pretty possible to do on your own. In fact, the outside map is the easiest part of it all.

Thank you for the reply! I'm guessing I will be unable to include the Brotherhood in any future exploits? Or is it possible to clear the base and tell them you did it.

Thanks for the help man.

All that worry for nothing. I ended up doing it and the Brotherhood didn't seem to care all that much. Maxson was nice enough to say thanks, at least.

Do you know how you can save Shady Sands? Is it just how fast you beat the game? I ended up beating it and everywhere died except the Brotherhood and Vault 13.

Pretty much, although you have to take quite a lot of time for Shady Sands to be invaded, and even then you have to visit the location after the date of the supposed invasion for the ending to trigger. Blowing up the Vats computer with explosives will shave some time off the invasion timers.

Weird. I blew up the vats and never visited the Hub or Shady Sands after completing the scorpion quest.
