First time out of the vault
Hi guys,

About to play Fallout 1 (all the way through) for the first time. I hate using walkthroughs, but I also hate missing content, so I want ask a few questions.

If there was no timelimit I don't think I'd even post this post as most things in the game can be explored whenever you like if I'm not mistaken...

So the question is, what content/quests are there that I CAN'T do whenver I like?

I know most of the plot to the game unfortunately, but not sure how the specifics play out.

My requests from you and for your help is as follows. Can you give me a list of things to before a certain point giving as vague of spoilers as possible.

Examples:

1) I know about sending an extra supply of water to the vault from some town. I should do this before fixing the waterchip.
2) I know there is something significant at the HUB either before or after the water chip quest is completed but I'm not sure what it is. (or maybe thats fallout2?) So I should defintelyigo to the hub before fixing the water chip I think right?
3) What else? Talk to X person in town y before doing quests Z

creating this list as spoiler free as possible would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Skitzie,

Remember to patch up first! Search for "Fallout Fixt" on Google. I can't link to it because I'm a new member.

Try and find the water chip within 100 days; the community around its location will be wiped out and you won't get to meet a fairly colorful character after that happens.

Don't worry too much about completing everything the first time around; one of the best things about Fallout is its replay value. Let it take you on a ride and you'll learn more each time.

You can't play without missing anything, there's always something that's unaccessible for your character. If you want to do as much as possible, make a character with high intelligence and talk to everyone, even minor npcs. Also, focus on getting water chip first - time limit disappears after that (sorry for minor spoiler, Helegad also gave you one)

I know about sending an extra supply of water to the vault from some town. I should do this before fixing the waterchip.
I've never needed that, but you can do it if you feel like it. It just gives you some more time.

I know there is something significant at the HUB either before or after the water chip quest is completed but I'm not sure what it is. (or maybe thats fallout2?) So I should defintelyigo to the hub before fixing the water chip I think right?
I'm not sure what do you mean, but Hub is the place where you discover water chip's location.

Sending water to the Vault had consequences when Fallout was initially released, but they were patched out (which I do agree with too).

You'd want to visit the "City of the Dead" before March 25, 2162. Else some permanent "management" changes happen there. But you usually visit the city before that time playing normally anyway.
