[Fallout 2] Beat Lenny In A Fight GLitch

First time out of the vault
So, I was at the NCR's place in Fallout 2 an decided to talk to Merck. Me thinking I could defeat him, I say I could fight Lenny. I am able to fight him, and kill him. Once I kill him I'm just sitting in the boxing arena with nothing but four guys outside the ring and a dead supermutant. What exactly is wrong?
 
Saving and loading during the fight will get you stuck. Killing Lenny with a 0-damage crit might also do it.
