Fallout 2 beginner here.. I'm so lost.

First time out of the vault
I loved the atmosphere in Fallout Tactics (Even though it is looked down upon.) So after taking advice from a friend I thought I'd tryout fallout 2.

Ok now, here is my situtation, I'm the type of person who plays a game, immediately goes to look at some user made content. I went to your files area, and saw waay to many files to files..

My dilemma:

Can I stack the patches? - There is more than 1 patch (The original, High Res, and Children, and possibly 1.05) Is there a way I can install them all? If not, what would you recommend.

What mods would you recommend for the best playing experience? I'm not talking about new campaigns perse, but rather tweaks. etc.

Thanks alot guys, I know you guys probably get alot of new people here, if you could take the time to read this, its all I ask.

Thanks!

I can't wait to play :DD

Go to http://www.killap.net/ and get the Unofficial Fallout 2 patch. That is the only patch you need, it includes all the game fixing patches (and the children) but no mods.
The High Resolution Patch works just fine with together with the UF2 patch.

Mods are not recommended for first time players, but patches are. :)

cheers

When Fallout 2 was under production they had to cut a few locations out because of the time limits on the production of the game. The restoration mod is striving to implement these back into the game. It's basically a mod that adds new areas to the game but only so much as was originally designed and not 'weird fan ideas'

There's a similar project for Star Wars Knight Of The Old Republic 2 for example.

I would personally play through FO2 just with the unofficial patch by killap and give it a second try with the restoration project once you've finished your first playthrough.
