Fallout 2 crashes in middle of loading screen

First time out of the vault
hi there,

so, when do the maximum install of fallout 2, and patch it, the game crashes right in the middle of the loading screen, and falls back to windows. (XP, 64bit professional) i've also tried it without the patch, but it does the same.. i thought that vista and xp (and every microsoft 64bit system) is supported, or am i wrong?

i could use any help, thanks in advance ;)

and what exactly do you mean? i see nothing about 64bit systems in the faq :(
So you've read all of the advice in the thread and, you know, tried it out?
I'm pretty damned certain that the 64-bit flag doesn't suddenly negate the possibility to communicate what you've tried so far, or disables all those functions that are present in 32-bit XP.

uff, to be precise, i'm not experiencing any of those problems described in the faq - so, half of the things mentioned there are useless for me, because i'm not able to run the game at all..

also, i've managed to find similar topic here, but sadly noone has answered to the guy who has the same problem as i have.

So I suppose that you've actually tried, say, telling us *how* you installed the game, running compatibility mode, turning off hardware acceleration etc, or did you just completely ignore everything in the stickies because hey, 64-bit?

ok, so i've chosen the humongous installation, then installed the game. with or without the patch, it is still the same. any compatibility mode was useless, every option does the same - the game won't run. hardware acceleration is the same thing - at any point the game still refuses to start. disabling those things about AGP makes no effect. so, it's 64-bit, you know ;)

now seriously, i'm starting to be desperate :(

Don't double post.

In any case, your best hope now is probably trying to run it through VMWare or DOSBOX.

well, i've tried microsoft virtual pc, and the emulated graphic adapter is useless.. so, will it really work? what adapter is VmWare using? (and sorry for the doublepost, i'll edit next time)
