Fallout 2 Gold Games 4 Edition

Eternities ago i purchased the German Gold Games 4 Edition including Fallout 1 & 2. A year ago or so I tired to run them on my Laptop and thanks to it it worked very well for Fallout 1 and I think at one point it was close to fine for Fallout 2 as well.

However, I now dug the Fallout 2 CD out of some pile of dust and want to run that game on my Windows Vista Computer. The game started but did not get too far. It crashed after the loading screen.

I looked into my old gamestuff folder and found
1. F2 Restoration 1.2
2. Fallout2_High_Resolution_Package_v2.2a

With both, the game actually starts and works for a short while. However, ERROR soon turns out in character conversations. Winning Aunt Annie to give the flint stone for free only makes her say "ERROR". Worse, when I leave the village and cross the bridge south into the wilderness to get to the next town, some guy apporaches me and an ERROR conversation starts. It went on for a while and I was not patient enoguh to sit through.

What to do?

2. F2 Restor. Pack
3. High res. (don't think thats the prob)
 
You probably will get a reply here as this is forum is more fun than the Modding one. However, it should placed in the General Modding forum to be addressed. Restoration and high res patches can make for unusual occurences.

vista/win7 kinda suck with Fallout1 and 2. I have a lot of issues myself, but none that permanent.
 
This occurs because you are using the German version. The RP is an English mod and thus installs dialogue files to Fallout2\data\Text\English. So the German version can't find the files. See how to fix that here.

I suggest getting the US version from ebay or something, the German translation is pretty awful and the games are censored beyond recognition.

however, I only have 1.2 and cannot find this new version :(
 
It says 'Future Versions', no? RP 1.3 isn't out yet but Killap is working on it. There's a thread in the modding forum. You should probably wait until it's finished, there will be lots of new content/fixes.

If you decide to stick with the German versions, you should look for uncensor-patches.
 
I have a similar problem. I have the Gold Games 4 Edition too and when I start the (unpatched) game the loading screen pops up and the game closes immediately. I installed the patch but the problem is still the same.
