Ok so I went back to arroyo and was told to go south so i did and i kicked off at the base they have there and killed everyone then I read in a guide after that it could of all been done peacefully.

So now im at the oil rig and now i keep getting attacked is that normal?
either way marcus the idiot who cant wear armour gets shot apart
I'm sure i could take them eventually
I'll just use the tactic of kill one run and rest

so my question is
is the enclave main base supposed to be hostile?
or did i make things 100 times hard for myself

also people who do these walkthroughs are kinda pointless they mainly tell you what ur told in the game, like wtf i know that i need to find it but whrere!? yeh anyway they attack me which ever way I go

This is what one of those guides say:

The turrets in the foyer won't attack unless fired upon, but once you move beyond the foyer, turrets and Enclave denizens will be less forgiving. You can only bring one NPC along without being attacked. You must be wearing some kind of Power Armor, but your NPC doesn't have to. Beware that some security bots are overzealous and will attack if you're not strictly alone.
