Fallout 2 inventory problem

Everything that NPC's give me just disappear. Momma gave me smittys meal and I didnt find it. So I came back and she told me that I have to give the meal to smitty before I can talk to her again. Same thing with the crowbar and the locket. I only receive money from NPC's.

And yes, I have space in my inventory.

Could this have something to do with the "bag bug"?
Do you have a bag in your inventory? If so, trow it away and see if that helps. Might wanna check if the stuff ended up in the bag first though.

Are you in The Den? If so, look at the merchants. Maybe children stole stuff from you and sold to the merchants?
