Fallout 2 not working on Snow Leopard

Tool

First time out of the vault
Title.

I just bought the 1 and 2 when I bought Snow Leopard. I boot it up and I can see the "Please Stand By" screen, but after that the screen goes blank. I can hear music, but that's it. Sometimes it's white, sometimes it's black. I think one game is white and the other, black. Whatever. I can even skip through the music, but again, I can't see anything.

I've looked around and noticed people have had problems with distortion, but I can't see anything at all; there's no picture to distort. I downloaded NVIDEA or whatever, and nothing.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I have a MacBook Pro 15" if that helps. Let me know if you need anymore information. Appreciate it.

I doubt it's fixable. Snow Leopard broke a lot of evenly recently-released programs, and the only remedy (AFAIK) is to wait for the developer to update it. Your best bet is to run the Windows version, using Boot Camp, VMWare Fusion, Parallels, or Wine.

Gotcha. Well apparently I thought I added the NVIDIA 256 color fix, but I didn't. The installation failed. Multiple times. I assume for the same reason. Gotta love Apple.

Road Apples

Road Apples

Appears that the road to hades in this episode of 'hardware hell' is littered with the PR machinations of Apple, "Road Apples"!

Had "issues" when upgraded G4 PB to 10.5,
routine permissions fixes AND a lot of Apple updates cured the multiple problems,
until hardware decay made sound/video flakey.
G4 PB's run hot: can fail or f-up before obsolete.
[Cooling fans ate load of lint over unspecified time (a year-2006-7?), when clothes dryer vent - didn't -, once grey dust bunnies were blue when awoke to that problem (PB still functions if several reboots clear silicone synapses and conductive arteries, works for unknown length of time, yeah!)].

Got 2008 PB, and will not rush to get Snow Leopard.
[Checking dryer vent and central air filter now part of home computer maintenance!]

Some called 10.5 (Leopard) Apple's **VIsta**.

Maybe Snow Leopard is Apple's ""Vista revisited"".

Have no known app that NEEDS Snow Leopard, and will be happiest to wait.

But. Consider booting from an OS 10.5 partition on an external drive.

One of the things that Apple OS's could do for generations was boot from any selected drive or partition, might have to be firewire on older hardware(?),
but should be able to boot from an external drive and run a lot of app's such as FO1 and 2.

Still have Tiger on small external drive, used it to be certain of the hardware failing and not a new 10.5 OS conflict, during G4's dusty demise / canned air resuscitation.

Will be sure to mirror this Intel hard drive before I try 10.6, after all the reports of the software industry fumbling another upgrade (environmental or congenital malfunction?).
Sure the PR is always perfect, yet the PRODUCTs rarely are, ... ,
"' marketing, marketing never changes.""

If not blessed with an external drive to perpetuate your 10.4 or 10.5, may be just another $100 fix to get a half T USB-Firewire rig.

Had an ex, when it was time to buy her stuff, ""there's always more money!!1!"" :D

Why not celebrate our dysfunctional - codependent - "Men Are From Mars, Apples Are From Uranus"", relationship with the Mac with a NEW ....... External Hard--drive!1!!

;)
