Hi everyone. I recently dusted off my ancient copy of Fallout 2 on my A643200, 1gb ram, Radeon 9800 pro PC running windows xp home sp1. It's been a while, but I noticed something odd even on the menu screen which I don't recall ever being there. Wherever I am on the game (except in the movies) I've noticed flickering on the screen if I look hard. There are also very, very faint distortions in color such as tiny bits of purple on the menu buttons. This does not happen in ANY of my other games except in one case; in a strategy game called Starcraft/SC Brood War I also notice this flickering, especially on the interface. This leads me to wonder if it might be a problem with very old games, perhaps with newer video card drivers. I've checked anti-aliasing, anisiotropic, vsync etc. and nothing works. I had the same graphics card on my old system and never noticed this problem, although I can't recall if I ever tried it after updating from 98se to xp. Like I said, perhaps it's just something I never noticed before and it doesn't affect gameplay at all, nor does it bother me in particular.
Still, if anyone else knows of this problem it would be nice to get rid of it.
Perhaps if I tried the manual install option that helped some people...
UPDATE: I just noticed someone seems to have a similar(ish) problem on a thread a couple of pages back; though he believed that it was his laptop screen casuing the problem. I am using a normal CRT moniter; the same I used for my old computer.
