Fallout 2 on Mac?

I've been searching high and low for a version that can be run on Mac of Fallout 2. I've actually found links on here and on Reddit of GOG's Fallout 2, saying that it was Mac compatible. However, when I looked on the compatible systems section of the game's page, it only had the Windows icon and which versions supported it.

Did GOG take down their Mac compatible Fallout 2? I'm dying to play it again.

I don't know if you've read that user review on GOG (from 6th October 2015):

Also, for those of you with Macs, I contacted the GOG team whether there was a Mac OS X version and was told:


"Unfortunately when the publisher of the game changed, we lost the rights to distribute the MacOSX version. We might add them again if something changes, but I am unable to predict or promise anything right now."

I wasn't given any further detail about what "further changes" would be required to get the Mac OS version back on the GOG store.

Given that the game was reuploaded to GOG only a (relatively) short while ago, it might be worth waiting for GOG to regain those rights for us Mac users to be able to play this great classic, instead of using slightly more.

So, sounds like you're out of luck.

You could always try and run it in Wine or something.
