Fallout 2 patch & WinXP

does anyone know how to get the patch to work in WinXP?

whenever i try it gives me the error

"Error: An Extended Memory Manager is already installed.
XMS driver not installed


This Program cannot be run in Dos mode"

any help is appreciated, thanks.
 
i downloaded the patch and had no problems at all (i'm also running XP)
i suggest downloading it again and make sure you have the right patch.
btw i've got the uk version of the game so it could be a problem that only exists in the us patch
