Okay guys, I'm not going to say I've tried everything because I obviously haven't. The I'm having is what I assume to be a black out and it is a not-so-rare occurance. Currently I'm on the bottom level(3) of the recently discovered Vault 13 and I'm picking the locks on the foot lockers. I save so I don't bust the lock (lockpick@55% with lockpicks), and boom.
The screen goes black and I hear the Winxp error noise and there is no actual error box. I ctrl-alt-del and go to task manager and it show two tasks running, fallout2, and the fallout2 error box, but I cannot access the dialogue box. I have however: ended the FO2 Error (using end task) that consequentially exits FO2; pressed enter at the black screen and that exits FO2; and I have alt-f4'd which also exits FO2.
Just to be sure, is what I described an official blackout?

Everytime I load the saved game file, it goes through the aforementioned issues. Essentially, my save is ruined, but my other is fine. So I'm guessing that every time I load the game, it goes through all of the steps that lead to the error. Aren't recursive errors fun?
Now this isn't really that serious, but I just want to know if there is a solution. I'm not really that far, I just raped Vault 15 at the record low level (for me) of 6 (3 hits of psycho, .233 pistol, assault rifle, Vic with sniper rifle and Sulik with a combat knife) and I really don't want to start again. My other save is from a really bad game (I actually took bloody mess) and I'm addicted to jet.
I went through James Kompare's (the Interplay E-mail) directions but to no avail. If I can't fix the problem, I was hoping there was some sort of cracker that let me move me (and hopefully my party) to some other town.
