Fallout 2 stops responding during fight with Melchior's pets

First time out of the vault
I used search but I couldn't find anything related to this.
I am in a fight with Melchior and his pets, his last 3 Deathclaws and 1 Fire Gecko and somehow game stops responding.
This is like the 10th time I play the game this year and is the first time it happens this.
Any help ?
 
It can happen when the geckos can't path to you. Pick them off immediately or don't create bottlenecks and it should work. It happens very rarely for me anyway.
 
Hmm, thought of this, but unfortunately I have only 2 saves.One is when I have one AP so is not enough to get the FG and the other one is when I arrived at MB.Thing is I have indeed 3 Deathclaws next to me and the FG is right after one Deathclaw and every time I reload the FG tries to get me and game stops responding.First time happening to me in more than 100 games played in total.
Well, guess I have to start again kicking mutant ass.
