A Post Nuclear Blog tells us about CrossOver Games, which is apparently a project to create applications with which to run PC games smoothly on Linux and Mac systems. The people responsible, CodeWeavers, have a system in which you must first register, and can then either vote (for free) or "pledge" (for money) to get them to tackle the games of your choice. When and if they do create the application, you can buy it from them. So I suppose this means you can pay to increase the potential audience of Fallout 3?

Thanks to Ausir.

Codeweavers does a lot of good work and they share code with an open source project called wine. Wine is what we really want fallout 3 to run in. Fallout 2 and the original also run well in wine by the way. I see this as being quite possible since this game will be more or less a static release. Many of the other linux users I know also tend to like the wastelands, so I think it will be a featured item.

The guys responsible for Winex aka Cross Over Games and stuff need to "code in" support for each game. You can still try and run it in wine or winex but probably it wont work. The most popular games get their support anyway, without voting and paying them some cash so I think it doesnt matter if you donate or not, they will support fallout 3 anyway.

No, it's only to their benefit as far as I can see. Logically they should be making the donations, if anyone.
