Fallout 3 confirmed ?

Since alot of people believe that Van Buren (latest Bis project) is Fallout 3, we've all been nagging and trying to get word if this really is true. Well Puuk posted this about the "mess" sorrounding Black Isle recently:
I thought we already went over this in another thread? Oh well. Jefferson is on hold (that point was made a long time ago); we are working on Van Buren. Neither of these games were officially announced, nor do we intend to announce it until we believe it's ready to be announced (we want to build a hype machine only if we really have cool things to show and support that hype machine). That's about it. We're not actively trying to *beep* anyone off or hide behind a conspiracy. When we have something we're proud to show and hype (read - announce), we will. We are working and are putting together design docs, game mechanics stuff (technical term), etc. This is what we do at the beginning of a big project. Sorry we can't be more specific, but with the rules discussions that Josh and Briarus (sic) are throwing around, you can pretty much guess what we're working on - at least I hope you can. But we cannot officially announce anything at this moment. Besides, wouldn't you rather we announce the game when it is passed the pre-alpha stage and not get burned out on the hype if we announce the game a year or two in advance?
My mouth is drooling, anyone else?

Sound Stategy

Make the mistakes when the design clay is fresh, soft, and forgiving.
Leave the tale of blind trails to the historians and archeologists, after the warm glow of a successful FO 3 release, has decayed a half life or two.

The more sound work completed behind the curtain.
The less smoke and mirrors they'll need when they go public.

A serious finished presentation will need less slight of hand and theatrical spin juggling. Need we ask the FO:BOS crew on how well goes the campaign of dramatic damage contol? Will a coat of FEV sugar, a FO story make?

The sticker on the Fallout1 and 2 boards at Interplay saying Fallout3
is"not in production" has now been removed... 8)

Cool 8)

nice Briosafreak that you saw that i now know that fallout 3 is coming   :x

Whoo ooh party

it won't turn up bad. i just know it won't. BIS still has some talented people left. Interplay is f***ed up, but i firmly believe they can still dish out a great game or two. thumbs up!

Welcome back Ratty, i hope your exams went fine.

I`m prepared to never see a Fallout3 like i really wanted to, so i`m not very demanding. With that on my mind i say that they could do a good game out of Fallout3, even if it doesn`t turn out perfect.
But my doubts go on the capacity of Interplay in having funds to make the game, on one hand, and the problems that may arise if more BIS developers leave. They already don`t have many employees that have a real grasp of what Fallout is, if they loose more i don`t know what will happen....

i already did some time ago Ratty, well it`s nice to have you back, i won´t post there now, it`s an Order thread, for you guys to have fun.
I deleted your double post by the way.

Indeed.

The world of fallout is the best I have ever seen. The sequel will be welcomed with open arms.

I still have fallout2 (and a cheater) installed on my computer, and occasionally set up a friend with a kick ass character and let him start acting "stranger in town", going shopping into whore house, picking fight in bar.

The game really holds its own. I promise you, whoever I set up in front of my computer, the person is LOST for the remainder of the evening until his lady (unless she is the one playing).

There is something of the aftermath setting that allows people freedom from normal norms. It is a freedom to do whatever you like. Of course some immediately try to pick up women as well. Come to think of it... strange that you cannot easily get laid with a junkie when you have the narcotics she covets. Wouldn't be too bad if you had a high probability of contracting a sexual disease while doing so ("serves you right").

Of course I manipulate them into visiting the humorous parts, like the shotgun marriage.

Also non-lethal attacks should be possible. Some does not like killing women. And the ability to calm things down afterwards is sadly lacking. If a guy picks on you, and you punch him in the face, it is strange that the whole town becomes hostile no matter what the setting is. Some try to be good patrons and help people, but it is not that easy. Gratitude seem to be a rare commodity.

I understand from a programmers perspective why it must be black/white responses because to evaluate an interperson setting is tricky for a computer. But it is still too bad.

If fallout3 is announced, I will preorder it without any hesitation. I truly believe in games that are so open ended. That I can choose my own morals and the game actually allows you to do that. With flexible story that allows you to do anything. So many times have a person asked my what the "correct solution" is. Because they are so used to games that suddenly says "mission failed" or that the game's story refuses to go further. No sir, not in this game.
You can contract a kill, seek out the victim and negotiate a better deal (or kill him, its up to you), then go back to your original employer, rob and kill him, then go back to your original victim, get paid and then kill him... and pat yourself on the back for having wasted to mobsters with some pocket money to spare.

Some of the better aspects of the game is the fighting, I hope they get that right.

And I did not even purchase BOS, I hope the low sales figures on that thing prevents them from doing a thorough (and expensive) job on fallout3.
