First of all, let me say I'm very excited to hear that Black Isle is considering to continue the Fallout line.
I believe I was one of the first people to play Fallout and I know I was one of the first people to play Fallout 2. I've played both several times and consider myself a veteran player. With that said . . .
The Fallout series is a spectacular RPG. Let us consider why. Some might say because of the polical statements and social implications, some might say because of the role-play and watching your character advance philosophically and in ability, some for the humor, and others for the sheer fun of watching some guy pop like a zit when you blast him with your minigun at point blank range!!!
The point is, the heart and soul of the game does not revolve aroung the combat system. I find it hard to believe that making the game real-time or pseudo-real-time would change the game so drastically as to make it a bad experience.
At first I was opposed to a real-time change in combat, but the more I thought about it, the more thought it didn't really matter. I have always known Interplay and Black Isle to make quality products, and I'm sure whatever they decide to do, Fallout 3 will be just as gripping and touching a story line as the first two.
