Fallout 3 Screenplay

Created by Eric Bird

I wrote this screenplay trying to preserve things that I think made the first two games great. I would like to see the game expand yet keep it’s feel and theme intact. I think a lot of other people feel this way as well. I tried to stay true to the timeline and character continuity.

(Opening Video)

(Medium-long shot) A man in shoddy looking Heavy Power Armor walks into the shot and sits on a rock There are ruins behind him with an intense green glow filling the background.

(Close-up) He reaches into a bag and pulls out a small tape.

(Extreme close-up) He slides it into a device on his wrist and the shot slowly centers and zooms in on the small view screen.

Music starts.
(Fade-in)

Caption: The End

(Medium close-up) Man removes tape and puts it back in the bag.

(Full body shot) The man is startled by a noise off in the distance. He relaxes for a moment. Then he hears a noise from much closer.

(Point of view) Something is quickly approaching the man from behind.

(Full body shot) The man is attacked by multiple aliens, falling outside the shot. Blood and body parts flip through the shot.

(Close-up slowly zooming in) A hand drawn map with an area marked with a nuclear symbol. Blood splatters on the paper.

(Medium long shot) Tank exploding after having grenade thrown into it.
Blood covering the ground. The scene centers and then zooms slowly toward a pile of rocks in the middle of the warzone. Passing through the rocks the scene reveals a large bomb with a flashing display and a row of lights counting down. Suddenly, there is a nuclear blast and everything in the center of the battlefield is incinerated.

(Long shot) Several soldiers climb to the top of a plateau. They are visibly shaken.

(Medium shot) Suddenly they turn and are confronted by a huge, looming, vaguely mechanical looking silhouette with glowing red eyes. The eyes become red beams targeting them and they all explode into bloody debris and sparks.

(Talking head of Elder) “Your parents would be proud of your progress. You have honed your skills and abilities. Even though you have much to learn it is time for you to go out into the world. Our seers have declared that a great force has destroyed the armies of the north. This would seem to explain the great light we all witnessed last night. You must go forth and discover what has happened. “The Chosen One” wanted you to have these if there ever came a time when New Eden needed an emissary. That time is now. Go forth... “Chosen One”.

Your tribe has been living very happily in the little piece of paradise you have cut out in a valley in what used to be Baja Mexico with the G.E.C.K. Your village is a mixture of technology and nature and the study of the non-violent aspects of both. Study of the mind, earth, and heavens are embraced. Some are scholars in psychic energies (telepathy and telekinetics), some in astronomy and astrology, and others in earth studies and usage of the resources of the land. Your tribe had, until now, chosen to stay out of the conflict, rejecting violence and chaos created by weaponry. Having seen the bright light from the south
the council has decided you no longer have that luxury. You must go forth to discover what has happened. Due to the need to protect your own village you are only allowed to take one person with you. You can take a physic (he is like Sulik at first but the psychic trait evolves to do other things (hehe)), a "navigator" (he can find the shortest route and shorten your travel time and also has better luck as far as encounters, or an "outdoorsman" (expert in hunting and living off the land). Each one obviously has it's advantages.

You have all these abilities but not as well developed (yet). It's important that the game expand traits to include Psychic Ability and Navigation. Psychic ability evolves from just intuition (advanced perception) into the ability to shield party members from psychic attacks (an inability to attack) and eventually into the ability to attack others (they can't attack or their head explodes). For Outdoorsman it makes it necessary to stop for food and water. Someone with that skill can get food and water from plants and carcasses and is better at storing foodstuffs. He can be a glorified cook and you can give him all the food so you don't have to hold it. (Yea) You can order him to scrounge for food after a battle if there is anything edible around (Hmm). If it's human you might become a cannibal (hehe). Some kinds of meat or flora might add to traits or even poison you at the same time you gain nourishment ;Humans=Steal and Lockpick and Luck but humans know and won‘t join you, Deathclaws= Unarmed and Agility but Deathclaws know and won‘t join you, Gouls=Rad-resistance and Intelligence but Gouls won‘t join you, Mutant=Big Guns and Strength but mutants won‘t join you, Aliens=Psychic Ability and Perception but aliens won‘t join you.

I think you should be able to offer drugs or alcohol in confrontations to kickback and party, perhaps gain information or allies. Also I think if you drink socially you gain a tolerance for alcohol but if you drink too much you can become an alcoholic and get the shakes in battle. Dependant on other traits you can become "Life of the Party"(people love him) or "Drucken Asshole"(people want to fight him) in bars. I think this takes care of much of the frustration that many people have with the usefulness and functionality of food, drugs, and alcohol in the game. I hate finding useless items, as I'm sure a lot of you do. I realize this would take a lot of programming but I think the game would be a lot more interesting and realistic. Am I using the word a lot a lot? (hehe)

Now to get to the knitty gritty.

The factions of the various forces were destroyed by advanced scout forces of an alien civilization that has been on Earth since before the war, thus various aliens in previous games. The Greys are the brains of the enemy. They survived the war at area 51 because they were and are immune to radiation. They have a chemical, biological ability to create the warriors. The suckers from previous games were the warrior scouts. The alien encounters can be mixes of warriors and Greys with Alien blasters. That’s why they were scattered throughout the wasteland. They arrived here because they were seeking out a place to relocate because their sun is going supernova. They crashed due to the fact they folded space to get here, which was a new technology to them, and they had no idea we had radar technology. This for some reason interfered with their instruments forcing them to crash. They had no way to communicate this to their brethren. They also only communicate thru telepathy, thus utilizing the psychic skill. Thus Roswell incident. (Nice Behold The Pale Horse reference) This was kept secret from the public but thru espionage the Chinese eventually learned of the existence of the aliens at area 51. This, in part, participated in the events that led up to the war. So as the character wanders through the wasteland he can gain knowledge of this through all three factions, as well as utilizing their technology. Obviously the main character cannot approach Area 51 or Montana until he gains anti-radiation armor. He gains small bits of information through tapes along the way. There must be vehicles to gain such as tanks and modified vehicles along the way to combat the advanced technology of the aliens who have created very advanced robotechnology from scavenged human vehicles. There can be progressive bosses along the way and even alien sympathizers, granted you can‘t communicate with them until your psychic skill is high enough. Area 51 should be where the aliens originated from but Norad is where they have concentrated, using the nuclear weapons to protect themselves. You can have time limits as they systematically destroy human cities that are potentially threatening. This could start in China, which the main character could learn about through Shi forces coming through Canada. They eventually target other bastions of technology foiling plans of each faction to counter their forces. Eventually it is all up to the main character and the NPCs he has gathered along the way to save all of humanity. Long the way the character should be able to unite aliens, mutants, goules , and humans of all the factions that have been rejected by the factions. Of course they all have their own traits to contribute. This is the final fight for unity that wasn’t created in F2, which I think people expected. You should work your way through Area 51 to Norad but not have it end there. The Aliens need the nuclear technology to send a message back to their home planet that Earth is ripe for the picking. You must prevent this before their window of opportunity closes. This could be east of Montana at a huge installation that the Aliens have been concentrating their energies on for the last 180 years. You must find out about it, discover their plans and go back and fire a Norad missile at it. This leaves the whole East Coast, Europe, and China open for Fallout 4.

If you want me to continue with this storyline, let me know. If you like it I would like to hear from you.

I like it though I agree that I am very way of having psychic powere introduced into FO.

I also would like to point out that the fifferent 'factions' should act less like countries and more like city states with many petty aliegences with each other against one another which would hinder an organized resistance.
And less tech in common use, more tech discovered maybe, but less in common use, this is a post apocaliptic world and high tech equipment tends to be very fragile without maintinance in a rough environment.

//It is berry skarry faiting tha snake.

I appreciate the suggestions. Most of the high tech weaponry would of been destroyed in the explosion. You wouldn't be able to access it until you acquired heavy power armor with rad resistance. This could be very hard to acquire. Your telekinetic and psychic powers would also be slow to develope until you confronted the aliens when it would be almost necessary.
