Did you guys like it? I checked through the options and they actually allow a real time gameplay element instead of just turn based combat. How did you guys feel about that? Did you feel it was better than the turn based combat or did you prefer using it? I tend to use it for a more realistic edge in combat since you know it isn't turn based in real life but it does require some patience. Things would move by faster. So how did you feel about it?

It would have made shitty combat. You can't balance turn based and real time combat at the same time. It just wouldn't work out. Also, if I remember correct, the addition of real time was just because of publisher pressure, which says a lot. Oh, and not to forget the addition of multiplayer, which would have had an extreme influence on the actual gameplay as well...

I love realtime combat games; particularly RTS titles like Myth and Homeworld. But I would never accept that style in a Fallout title. Fallout Tactics made great improvements in the combat system, but the realtime/continuous turn thing was not one of them. I would never play a serious session using it. It's not Fallout.

This is not what the game intends to be offering.

*It is a common misconception... the derisive complaint by some (particularly on Bethsoft) that people actually believe that their PC and companions stand there waiting their turn to get hit, or hit back. No one in their right mind should think that.

But a good many left minded players obviously do.

** This is a general remark; not related to anything in your post; it's just common.

What about FOnline? I think FOnline uses both real time and turn based. But I do like Fallout regardless of game modes, I might just use real time and compare to the other to find out which do I truly like more. I even think the guy who's working on After Reset is using a real time system with turn based rules similar to Knights of the old Republic I think.

I like using it because it provides a challenge. Especially in FOnline. though some perks don't work in real time

Yeah, and it works like shit. Especially in an online game. We had people trolling other people with setting up "turn based caravan traps" - a turn based combat location that was permanently visible on the worldmap. Of course many players wanted to check out that location and then were locked in turn based combat. Now imagine that with 20 or 30 players and everyones turn is 1 or so minute long. That's fun for hours, especially because new players kept coming (back from the dead and) into the map.
