As announced earlier, an anniversary edition of Fallout 4 has been released for €60, The main "Improvement" is the €20 Creations Bundle which seems to break achievements and other core features of the original game. I'm not surprised. Anyhow, it's available for those who want to purchase it on Steam.

Jesus fucking Christ. Imagine paying 60 bucks for a bunch of worthless creation club bullshit, hardly any actual improvements, mods being made broken because they now need to be updated, and bugs galore.

At this point anyone that buys anything Bethesda related is at fault here, you knew what was going to happen and still bought it.

My guess is that Bethesda is lacking the cash flows necessary for running the company. Their games take too long time and nothing can be produced. These game breaking expansions is the only way that they stay afloat.

I wonder what the point of the Fallout 4 update they released just before Fallout: London was if they were going to release this anniversary update anyway.

It's like they've done this twice to the same game now.

And I think @Resardiv is correct about the cash flow. Wonder what they will do next as Tod Howard just said Elder Scrolls VI is far away.

Why are large companies like this? This is a complete joke and the game still fucking breaks if you go over 60fps.

I’d rather Fallout just die if this is the level of shit we are consistently getting fed.

Fuck me. Microsoft step up and start fucking firing cunts. We’re not going to see a new Fallout game for at least another decade as it is. Either split the studio and have an elder scrolls team and a Fallout team or give it to a new studio.

What about FO76, Starfield and its DLC's and the Creation Club stuff? I wonder if it's enough of a cashflow to keep them afloat given that 76 should rake in money from the store and everything sold in CC since they get a cut from there
I'm not defending Bethesda with this, but I'm curious about what you guys think

Sure, those are generating cash for them, but not enough to be transformative and enable larger operations. Just imagine how much other game studios make on their live services.

That’s why we’re seeing more and more remasters; they’re cheaper to make and can make a lot of money, especially since the work gets outsourced to cheaper studios. Look at Oblivion, they clad it in UE5 to do just that. It took Bethesda eight years to make another single-player game after Fallout 4, Starfield. Before that, we got Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim in the same timespan.

Something I found on reddit now.

People tend to forget the merchandise. That’s a shit ton of money. You don’t need to make video games with low returns when you have a popular tv show that you can push billions in merchandise sales.

Another cashgrab to monopolize on the the TV show and new season. Garbage like the Anniversary Edition are a good reason to bogart Bethesda all together and stop giving them your hard earned cash, They will never learn.

You do have a point, later this week is Fallout Fan Celebration in Goodsprings, so people still have an interest in the universe.

It's a comedy at this point, it's just absurd how bad Bethesda handles Fallout, it's simply inimaginable. There is so much to be done with this franchise, and the worst thing is that for fans to be able to do anything with Fallout on a large scale is to wait for it go into public domain. Which actually gets me thinking, what will game industry look like when most of the gaming franchises go into public domain? 22nd century is gonna be so wild.

I can't remember who wrote it here, but it's just mind boggling that Bethesda hasn't written a single comic. Like it would be the perfect medium to tell smaller and more intense story, but noooooo. Imagine following the NCR soldiers who crossed the Sierra Nevada for the first time, or tribal villagers meeting the Legion. Such a waste. Can't even be bothered to make a deal with Dark Horse Comics.

Yeah I said that, there's so many possibilities that Bethesda could do, but instead they are sitting on a goldmine of an LP and are doing nothing but the worst thing with it.

It's not just an issue with Bethesda, but there's a problem where games are just taking way too long to develop than they should.

Not only that, but great... they released a Fallout 4 anniversary, you know the game which People only seem to care about the settlement building aspects.

Meanwhile, People have been asking for a New Vegas remaster for years, and with the show taking place in NV, you'd think that would be a no brainer.

Bethesda is really bad at milking their own franchises, it's actually kind of astonishing.
How long has it taken for Fallout TV show? That should have been on the cards since Fallout 4 was released.

Hell, look at Elder Scrolls, they could do so much with that IP, but in the years since Skyrim, all they've released is an MMO, a crappy mobile game and a remaster of the previous game that People now like more.

The Oblivion remaster was the best thing to come from Bethesda in years, and that's a 20 year old game where another developer had to help them on.

Nah, Bethesda just suck at being a game developer

Going on YouTube and looking at reviews of this mess, NOBODY has anything good to say about this Anniversary Edition. Yeah, they fixed the facegen stutter and console VATS issue from the next-gen update. But, it took them EIGHTEEN MONTHS to deliver that. Then that update broke a crap-ton of other stuff. New games are many years away and fans will be dead of old age by the time any of that sees the light of day. At this point, they should just shut it all down and close shop.

It's ironic really, Fallout's original art style is based on classic superhero comic books with characters wearing flashy tights and having peak physique for no reason, just look at their poses, look at iron man like power armor, look at hulk like supermutants, even Fallout 3 and 4 has superhero stuff going on and their own in universe comic books.
And man, Dark Horse Comics? More like, Dark Goat Comics, loved their Star Wars comic publishing.
I wonder why didn't they do comic books for classic Fallout games though, they were in the right hands back then.

Still pissed they did nothing for Brotherhood of Steel's 20th anniversary last year
Well, even though they didn't DIRECTLY reference it...

You can't deny that the Fallout TV Show practically stol- I mean took inspiration from Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel's Protagonist Lineup:

Seriously, is it wrong to make this assessment?

I just wanted to quickly point out that Fallout 2's release date is actually October 30th, 1998. How do I know that you may ask? It's simple...

The Fallout 2 Development Logs:

October 22nd's Log Entry literally says that the game's shipping date is October 30th!
