Fallout 4 RP Survival Blog

WeAreLegion

First time out of the vault
Hello all! Long time player of Fallout (Started with FO1) and lover of the Wasteland with some, I guess it would be "fan fiction" to share and get feedback on.

So as a writing exercise, and to help immerse myself in the role-playing possibilities of FO4's survival mode, I decided to start journaling my adventures through the Commonwealth about a year ago. It turned into a blog and really surprised me with how much story you can extrapolate from the game with all the changes that game mode brings. (Makes it feel more like New Vegas as well, never a bad thing!)

I started this about a year ago but like many things in life I got pulled away from my game and posting the journal entries. I'm slowly getting back into it so I thought I would see if anyone was interested in a read. I find my own post have inspired me to play again and if you never dug into survival mode (which I think is the best way to play) maybe you'll get motivated!

Basicly I limiting my entries to only actions and events in game and what the character Dan would be aware of himself. I'd love to hear some feedback here, or on the blog itself so check it out!

Thanks for the welcome.

My intention is to really bring to life the potential of the setting and the game despite it's obvious flaws as an interactive narrative with real "choice". I'm actually extremely pleased with the interplay of the survival mechanics and the pre-exsisting systems like cooking and base building. I'm not ignorant to the distain that many on this particular site have to the Bethesda Fallout games but I would ask that you give my blog a chance as it's truly fan fiction guided by my play though.

Maybe you'll read something entertaining that gives you a different outlook on Fallout 4? ;)

Thanks.

(Oh and I just re-edited and posted Day 1 based on some feedback from some others, check it out)

Well, why not? After all, we all spent time and imagination listing and thinking about solutions about the huge writing problems of F3 and F4, and it's not "that" different from actually fixing the narrative from within like you aim to do. Can't promise to read everything you write, but I'll give a look when I can.
About Bethesda, I actually don't feel that there's a problem with this community and Bethesda specifically... Since most of us actually own (and therefore bought) the game, even after many of us were disappointed with F3. And even then, you'll often find posts giving credit where it's due.
Anyway, welcome and good luck with your writing.

Don't worry, we aren't hating on you. It's just the thought of Fallout 4 that makes us annoyed.

I will read it, it's probably better than anything ever written by Bethesda. If you are interested though, it would be cool if you can create a NV/1-2 story, just because the world is generally better for a fanfiction.
