Fallout 4 trademark was a fake

Huhm. Not sure whether or not to be disappointed about this.

Well, if the whole thing does turn out to be fake, someone is going to have worked themselves up a hell of a PR/marketing portfolio by the end of it. Provided that it doesn't get them blackballed, that is.

Humm the plot thickens, if this is a fake it's going to cause some serious butt hurt in quite a few places.

Epic troll if this entire thing is fake. It's the best Fallout campaign I've seen

Wouldn't Bethesda have acted on that website by now if it was fake? Sure, nothing about it says it's Fallout-related, except for the Vault Tec symbol. But knowing Bethesda, that should be enough for them to cry "copyright infringement" and send their drooling lawyers at it.

Why should they? It's free pr for them. And who knows, maybe they actually will announce Fo4 soonish.

This is just a thought (and please correct me if I am wrong as I am no expert on IP law) but if it's traded / registered in one region hasn't a a treaty been signed that gives reciprocal protection to trade marks in all jurisdictions that are signatorys?

So if a American company trade marks "Bob's Widget Emporium" and actively conducts are trade under that name if a French company starts "Le Robert Emporia Du Widget" using the same font styling etc can't they get sued for infringing the trade mark?

Nope. I've been refreshing my knowledge of trademark law recently and there's no transatlantic trademark pact that would automatically register U.S. trademarks abroad.

Thanks for the Clarrification, It is one area of the law that is just too confusing for me to dedicate enough time to get a basic understanding.

As a asside that might go some way to explaining a set of photographs a friend of mine showed me of a Super Market in China with row after row of fake Alcohol (BudsWiser with the same font and graphics, Jonny Daniels Old No7, Smurfnof vodka) in one of the Big chains.

trademark...

There were a certain copyright agreement between EU politicians and the biggest publishers about copyright infringement. I believe it happened 2012, or 11, it was even in the news, somehow it leaked out.

So yes, technically there is one. Perhaps not trans-atlantic, but considering the power of the biggest publishers, "trans-world".
In this particular case, supposed this website is not owned by Bethesda, if they decide, they would have the means to sue the owner out of her/his money.
FYI even if there would not be such an agreement, with such a big IP, Bethesda could simply act through one of their representatives in the region.
There were actually similar cases between Google and different individuals about different gmail.whatever domains.

That is true, and right now there is no one making money off of this. But still, seeing as how a lot of things in the code link to ZeniMax/Bethesda and the Fallout franchise it's a very obvious attempt at passing it off as the real deal. And so it kinda makes me wonder why they'd just leave it alone if it's not for real. Hell, as far as I know they haven't even commented on it.

But I'm not convinced either, could be a very well made prank.

I'm surprised people even took any notice of the website - everyone knows CrystalBeth is making F4, and it will come out one day, when? Who knows, probably next Christmas. This sort of useless speculation is a waste of everyones time.

But I don't have anything better to do with the time that I am wasting. What else should I do, find the cure for cancer? All I have is a fridge full of mayonnaise and expired salad dressings. I'll never make any scientific advances in this laboratory of condiments. You ask too much.

:D

I still think survivor2299 is legit, we will see this Monday, anyway, FO4 will be released however much it bothers to some people.

And the person(s) who create these viral marketing things will look back in their lives, and go, "Yeah, I made that thing, and no one will ever know." lulz...

Holy shit! A dirty bomb. Clean your fridge out before it would explode! :P
Also, is good to see you here again. Shall we prepare for another update of main page design?

Main page design I think is Wooz's handy work but with a Fallout 4 announcement potentially coming the hope is to update this old/clunky software.
